simple b6 question, or is it going to blow your mind?

why are water passage holes in this fel-pro gasket missing? there are coolant passages being blocked. There between the cylinders at the top side of the picture..... see?

Does this matter? Is there some genius reasoning behind this, or are fel-pro gaskets defective?
Can someone compare this to a factory part?

    This a N/A b6

I know this one. The b6 and b6t use the same block but with different heads, now oil flows up through the block in to the head and the way that it is routed through the head and returns into the block is different. certian passages are used for the DOHC and some for the SOHC. the block will have all the passages, the gasket will only have certian holes punched because it is either for SOHC or DOHC heads. this is a good way to blow up a engine also, using the wrong gasket will block oil to your head but will still "fit" when putting it on

okay, thanks....but here is the thing.... some more info:

This is not a turbo. The part number is 9461 PT (PermaTorque headgasket)

there are passages in both block and head that will be blocked with this gasket. They are located between 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 near the edge on the back of the engine ( top of picture). Where you see one tiny hole between those cyliders there are (or should be) 3 tiny holes ....just like at the bottom of the picture. These are coolant passages, I think

      thanks.

I looked around...here is a pic from a list of mazda suppliers. They all are "missing" the holes.

        I wonder why?

            old single 8

I think all the gaskets are that way. Must be a reason, but I dont know it

                yes.

do you have a BF model?

do you have a harness to look at? there is a single spade connector coming out about 4 inches from the TPS connector...what does it go to?

                    Thanks.

I dont know what how the harness should look, but to the right of the throttle body intake is a black plastic box about the size of cigarette package. That is the TPS. Follow the wires from the TPS about 4 inches and you should see a single wire split off from the harness. It should be the only branch of this harness. It might go up under the throttle body somewhere, or simply plug into a ground on the valve cover..I dont know.

It actually plugs in to a female end connected to a solid black wire ( smaller gauge ) and that's connected to what looks like a little black square sensor on the distributor. The wire is maybe 4 or 5 inches long. I hope that helps.

                          condenser....sheez

it is shown in the FSM after all. ...., but I dont think this dizzy came with one (missing), or is inside maybe. That is a help. I will look into it.

I need to find the #1 cylinder on the distributor. I assume it is 10-12 o clock (where the rotor points when at #1 TDC) but autozone .com lists "GLC" cars at 5-6 oclock. Cliltons lists something else

                          thank you

oh, what car do you have? you from dallas?

No problem man. Glad I could help a little hah. On my car #1 is about 12 o clock on the distributor.

My cars a 89 323 SE 4 door. Ive got the old b6 8 valve single cam banger right now, I want to do a bp or b6t swap some time this year but for now it gets the job done.

Im located more in the Laredo area. Im actually from Georgia though. Im movin back over there in about a month.
