    93 egt

Picked up Escort #7 today (yesterday?)- a 93 Cayman Green GT with 155k for $375. I'll take some pics tomorrow, but here's the current plan:

    ASAP:
-replace front brake line (no "oh ****" clip, the outer casing is cracked from rubbing the strut) and bleed brakes
-install some shifter bushings and Kartboy SS (there is a good 4" of play when the car is in gear)
-adjust handbrake so it actually works
-replace leaky coolant overflow bottle, get air bubbles out of coolant system
    -replace driver's headlight
    -replace wiper blades

    Within the next month:
-add boost (VJ20, BP26 ECU, BP26 manifold modified for external WG, CS downpipe, Audi SMIC, etc)
    -replace rear hard lines
    -install MX3 seats
-realign passenger door, figure out why the windows are hanging up
    -patch hole in floor

    Sooner or later:
    -Outback Sport hood scoop
    -Hella Supertones and driving lights
    -Quickor rear bar
    -Pierce subframe brace
-Roodworks motor mount, fill the others with window weld
    -fix power mirrors
    -fix sagging/torn headliner
-repair rust on passenger side quarter
    -disty o-ring, VC gasket
    -stereo

Already did a little work to it- the car needed rear brakes (driver's side was down to the backing plate) so I installed the EBC Reds I had sitting in my garage along with a set of parts store rotors. Swapped the directional fanblades onto the Miata and put the Rewinds on the Escort- it looks pretty good.

Wow this is almost the exact same deal I picked up. My 93 Caymen Green EGT I picked up for $300. What is really odd is that it is Escort #7 for me as well and I have a whole in the floor. Hopefully yours gets done quicker then mine. I have already had mine a year. Good luck sub'n for pics and progress!

Nice score - have you had a protege/323? Or is it all Escort love?

I'm taking pics before work, relax- they'll get posted tonight after work. Replaced the brake line, bled the brakes, but they're still a bit soft. I'll have to re-bleed the rears, but I don't have time today... Gotta put new pad retaining clips on, since they apparently disappeared last night on the way home.

Lex- only Escorts, for some reason I've never really liked the Protege/323.

                      That's how I roll.

So I discovered that the little clips holding the pins for the brake pads on my driver's front caliper decided to disappear some time between when I left my parents' last night and when I got to the shop, as I posted earlier. The lower pin had backed out about half an inch by the time I saw it, and being at work until after all the parts stores closed (and not being able to fix it beforehand) meant I was going to have to either improvise or get a ride home (or chance it, but I don't have the best luck...) So I stole a couple of paper clips from the office and made my own. It would have gone quite a bit easier if the car had a jack, or if I had actually had tools with me... but it worked. I'll be taking the wagon to Advance tomorrow for a hardware kit.

A quick picture I took this afternoon (note my old turbo GT hiding in the background, lol):

Before you criticize someone, first try walking a mile in their shoes. Because then you'll be a mile away, and you'll have their shoes...
