    what trans fit the gt 323?

    just wondering what trans fit the 88 gt 323? i have buddy that blew his out and he wants to know? thanks

    Only one other than a Gt is one from a 91-94 mercury Capri xr2.

        you can also convert to the G series transmission from a protege/EGT, some bolts on the oil pan wont line up but it should be fine for a GT. gotta change the axles though

          you can use the stock axles from the 323 GT with the escort gT and protege lx trans, just have to either convert your car to hydro clutch or get a hydro clutch to cable adapter from Damkid.

            323gt axles have a different spline count than egts so they wont swap unless you change diffs.

              they have the same inboard spline count, its the outers that are different.

              you don't have to swap the diff, that is just for the KIA sephia trans and the V6 trans.

                  Thanks for the link Brady, I am the one with the 323 and tranny problem. So i took it apart and come to find out all it is is the diff, what diffs can i use to replace this?? please lmk as soon as possible, hopefully an egt or bp protege because i know of 2 bp trannys i could get it from

                    Egts have a different final drive than 323s so they don't swap.

                        I think its just the xz2 and 323gt diff that will swap. 98+ escorts have the same final drive but I can't remember if they have the same spline count. The non turbo Capris have a completely different trans so they can't swap. You can get a aftermarket one from mfactory.

                            I was just replacing the diff, but you can't just swap diffs, the final drive is different, so i had to swap the gears from the 323 onto the EGT gear shaft. Pain in the ass!!

                              So just to clarify a cable operated g series out of a xr2 will driect swap? Any mount issues?
