    Dustin' her off

Hi all! Long time GTX owner, first time poster here.

I've got a good ole 88' GTX (white two-tone) with some decent mods,

    mitsu/escort front brakes,
    opened exhaust,
    cone filter,
    EVC, FCon, TT-0

I've had this car for quite a while, but kinda let her go by the wayside (yea i know ima ) and its been a few years since I've poked around the net for info.. seems thats getting a little scarce??? seems like there are fewer and fewer guys around these cars !! kinda sad....

hoping you guys could help out.. I seem to remember the yahoo forum had some good info about general repairs/ common failures (ie- transfer pump repair/mod, rear brake upgrade, transmission strengthening mods, etc) but I'm having a hard time wading through the terrible interface their group uses. Maybe its time to start collecting and consolidating this info?

as far as my car goes, I currently have her semi-torn down for a clutch.. seems the rear main seal housing has been leaking causing oil to get into everything.. boo...

welcome. the yahoo forum is still very active, unfortunatly it is kinda hard to use. alot of 323 guys have been coming over since the 323performace forum went down. There are still a bunch of us here playing with our 80's 323's.

    Any questions, just ask away.
"See that car, in the 80's that car was deadly." Random man to his son while passing the GTX in a parking lot

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! love the window motor writeup BTW!

is there anywhere to still get parts for this thing? I know corksport bailed out earlier in the year (dammit I missed it!!!!)

main things I'm trying to straighten out on this car-

Digital dash repair, the odometer portion on mine has actually locked up (anyone have one they want to let go?)

sloppy shifter, mainly need the little square bushing that goes in the shifter, but I'm having a hard time getting a part number for it.

struts/suspension freshening (can i get bushings for this thing anywhere??)

brake lines- mine are getting scary looking... are SS braided available? will regular 323 work?

low fuel indication repair ( I think one of the level senders is bad? can i rob one off another mazda?)

thats the main stuff I can think of right now...

Welcome, glad to see another GTX owner pop up.

-No idea on the digital dash, do you have a factory manual? I do and I can check if there is a schematic in it.

-Make a detailed drawing of the bushing and see how much a machine shop could make one for. Probably out of delrin.

-Bushings... I too would like a set of these. Pedders still lists them and they are also available from SuperPro. Price is similar between them so I'll probably go with pedders.

-Stock rubber brake lines are available and I'm sure russel, goodridge, and others have sets that would work. I have the front lines from an 88 mx6 that will work on my GT. Will have to source the rears since they are pretty specialized with a long neck and alignment pin.

-No idea on the fuel sender, I'll probably be in the same boat judging by how corroded the whole pump assembly was when I pulled it out to check it. Again, I can check the manual.

good luck and never let the car go.
