My Protege KL Swap

Car was running with BP on friday and the pics are current as of 7pm sunday.. Still not done with some wiring, waiting on alternator plug to start car.. Didnt take alot of pics but you guys get the idea.. Using a KL31 millenia motor with KF 14lb flywheel, unorthodox pulley, ss pacesetter headers, southbend TZ clutch, K8 trans, koyo neon radiator, phenol spacers

Looks like a nice clean swap. What,if any, wiring problems did you have? What harnesses did you use? Custom rad piping?

^ its all mx3 stuff.. I parted out a gs at the junkyard!! Using the mx3 engine harness... using mx3 axles on my stock LCA's, we will see how that pans out..

Im just relooming wiring so it hangs around nicely, and doing a battery relocation.. and dont have the 3wire plug for the denso 110a alternator. thanks for the props guys!

Busted! Lol. Ill stop at the junkyard when i get off work, and grab you the 3 wire alt plug, along with a battery tray.

Definetly will stay tuned to see how your axles pan out. You used just the mx3 engine harness not the dash harness right?

Also what ecu/vaf combo are you going to run?

Just the engine harness at this point. Used the bp fuse block though. might change depending how it works, or doesnt. Lol Ecu and vaf will be mx3 also.

i didnt even realize my pile was in a pic till you pointed that out. lol.

well i stopped by the junkyard. was able to get a battery tray, but the 3 wire alt plug was a no-go. they squished the milly we pulled the motor from, and the milly S they have, someone already grabbed the alt, and plug off it. so its looking like were gonna have to adapt the stock BP alt to the KL. at least for the time being till we can locate a 3 wire plug to use the 110amp alt.

well tried to start it today and it made a couple burps but didnt start... On that 12 volt source going to the fuelpump relay, on the plug theres already a white jumper going to 2 of the connectors.. its getting fuel but the spark is weak so im thinking i got a bad disty, which its just the junkyard mx3 one anyways. Sucks cuz my mx3 is hei modded so i cant just test it by swapping them.


and I have done no wiring modifications at all. Its strictly an mx3 engine harness with protege lx fusebox. Im still not sure what to do with the the 12v source that has to goto a wire on the fuel pump relay.. still puzzled.
