Big Nose/ Small Nose crank. Can it be fixed???

Ok tell me if I should be posting this in my B6T engine build thread, But as much as it is related it is of a different topic. My crank is away getting a crank grind. Now I read into this before I started and to be honest I didn't really find the info I needed to know. After checking my small nose crank for wear it would seem it's fine.

My problem is. Is there a fix for the worn out keyway on a Small nose crank?
I Still havn't been informed of what the problem actually is.
I understand the keyway wears out. But what coarses this to happen?
If I was to have a longer keyway machined into my crank, would this prevent this problem?

The crank bolt loosens and the woodruff key slides out or something and wears out the keyway until failure. There was an article online about how to repair it some time ago. It is really important to properly torque the crank bolt and apply some locktite (blue kind that you can break).
