Astina Daily Driver or V6 sleeper ??

I bought this damaged Astina ( I assume it belongs in this forum as its basically a four door BG 323 with flip up headlights) as a daily driver so that I can get a few more things done on the KLZE 323. The intention was just to get it back together and looking respectable with new regristration and warrant.

The more I look at the KLDE sitting on the garage floor........
I just wonder whether it would be a cool sleeper with 16" wheels...or am I barking up the wrong tree and should just leave it alone. Could be a long term project..maybe next summer ???

What do you think?? Am I mad??

how does the BP run? it'd be a shame to pull out a perfectly good BP

if its crapping out or if you can find any excuse to pull it out, then YES DO A V6 SWAP

I've only driven it down the drive ! Seems to run OK but it is a 1500 auto and not a 1600.....thats why I'm undecided.

Personally i find having more then 1 project car at one time can be too much, so unless your ready for two project cars, i'd keep the BP in it

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Think you're both right. I'll get all legal again and use it as the "work runner" and if all the right bits ie. suspension, brakes and wheels come along at the right price i'll just stock pile them for some time in the future. Got tooo many cars as it is with the BF, the Bimmer and now the Astina.

BP motor sounds ok , auto seems to work and I have a spare set of 185/60-14 tyres that were on the BF.

          Pics of panel work later.

No Bikes at the moment.....I'd lose my licence for sure...used to road tset at 120mph in the UK Here......instant loss of license for 140km/h ( about 85mph) for at least a month plus impound of the vehicle. That a turbo ZX9 you got there???? ZX9 great bike preffered them to R1's.

You see my dilema Jack lol .....might just have to collect the parts over a few months and give myself a break from modifying.

Here's some progress pics....rad. support back in....28 spot welds later... and the resprayed secondhand panels.

Nothing wrong with a ZX6R...great bike...just takes a while to do the valve clearances lol

Thanks for the compliments on the paint...did it in the garage with $100 dollar compressor and a $70 spray gun inside a tent made of plastic drop sheets :O
Immaculate when I had finished.....came back 10 mins later to a run in the bonnet..arrgghh. Flatted it out with a razor blade, 1000 grit paper and a lot of polish.

The guy I was going to buy Lantis parts off has sold the front hubs and brakes !!! Told him that I wanted them !!!

Anyway..an update pic. Just got the nightmare of getting the headlights sorted now. Still got to adjust the bonnet as well.

nice work as always...my vote is to keep this one bone stock. if anything ever happens to the 323(which im sure it wont because its awesome) then you will have the astina with no problems.

what i would do for a DD right about now.
