    22psi stock bp-t long block = boom

Well after a year and a half of makeing 300whp and 330tq on a vf-10@22psi. I was racing a built awd talon and winning when. It sounded like a grenade went off in my engine bay. Exploded #3 piston causeing the rod to break put 4 holes in block and one in oil pan let go at 7000rpm. car was still pulling hard with no signs of anything going wrong. O well 2.5 year since i did the swap been beat on every day since then. Time to put a built bottomend and head together and make some good power.

    Will post picks later.

That's too bad. How did you get 22 psi out of the vf10? I can barely get 22 and mine is upgraded.

assuming 25% drivetrain loss eh? seems a little unlikely for a FWD...

Ah, ok. Yeah, I've only had mine spike 22 a few times, most of the time it's between 19-20, it will hold that till redline. Sucks it's popped, looks like that might be happening to me soon too.

What kind of rods did it have? Cuz I know cold stock BPT's don't much like 22psi...

edit, nevermind, stock bpt. Good job tuning, to have them last as long as they did. Next build, do Hbeams and ARP and be done with it. Blow up other stuff instead!

                  Thanks for all the comments.

I did not calculate the flywheel numbers dyno guy did just and estimate but it was starting to slip my new spec clutch which was rated for 375ft lbs so could not be to far off.

Car deff handed out many beatings to car that thought they shoud be in front of it lol.

The tune was even better than on the dyno held 11.4 afr all the way through.
The reason it blew up is just over stressed 100% stock longblock bp-t.

The new bottomend should be bretty bulit proof. deffinitaly h-beams and forged pistons. I just wanted to see how far a stock bp-t could go with a good tune. I Would say i did pretty good.

Well, ya found the far side of the limit, that much is certain!
I guess the stockblock GTR mill is indeed better suited to high boost. Been running 23psi on it for years now and still no boom.

Peak timeing was only 23degrees on E85. no signs on detonation on pistons the three that where left looked amazeing.

It has been on e85 sience i went 22psi about 1.5 years ago. no problems whatsoever.

Any 22 psi did feal amazeing there was not allot around here that could beat it on the street.
