    MS 2 Build ?'s - Ignition

I'm currently building my MS 2 and I am just trying to verify how to set the ignition up for the stock dist on an EGT. Anyone know?

    It is PCB V3.0

    Thanks!!

here my setting for stock bp ignition, with blaster coil 2.

you will need a timing light to set your trigger angle.

Hey, thanks, that will be useful, but what I was looking for are the modifications that need to be done to the board in order to run the stock dostributer.

So, in other words, I need to know what jumpers, components, etc need to be put in.

I found the instructions in the megamanual for hall/optical distributors but I'm not sure if that's how I should do it.

We need a thread outlining this stuff for the people building their own unit.

You could follow the miata instructions, leaving out the 2nd trigger input if you want to. IMO you'd be better off building both inputs right off the bat though, just in case you decide to go with wasted spark later on. Then it would just be a matter of changing software settings and wiring the coils, rather than opening up the MS and trying to add it after the fact.

So your saying just to follow the miata instructions to the T. I would like to run EDIS eventually.

Oh, and did you sell all of your adapter plates? I pm'ed you about one but havn'y heard anything/

i still have some but ive been really busy. i'll get back to you when i have some more time.

Why deal with the limitations of edis when you can use a stock (or miata) CAS to fire wasted spark straight from the MS2?

I was under the impression that edis was a better and easier way but now that I've read the miata how to, I think that's the way to go.

Couldn't I just install the IGBT high current driver circuit and use the BIP373 to fire the coil directly?

                    yes, you can.

personally i am now using external ignitors with wasted spark. previously i was running the internal VB921 ignitor w/ single coil but i like the external ignitors better. gets all that heat and noise out of the MS box...

you might as well build it with two logic level spark outputs like how mine is now. then you can just use spark output A for now, while you are running single coil. then its just a wire harness change and a few settings when you go COP/wasted spark.

i am running 2 stock EGT ignitors, mitsubishi J701

You wouldn't happen to have any info on that setup would you? Any diagrams?

mmmm nope. again, check out the suggested miata or DSM setups. those guys generally retain their stock ignitors.
