    sano86323's GTR swap

About 2 years ago I found the GTR front clip while looking for a b6t for
my 86 323 dx. Of course there was no way I was going to past on
getting my hands on all that bpd goodness. So the better part of 2
years later I've almost got her done and want to get a thread started.
    I just can't wait!

All that is really left is getting the intercooler piping and exhaust done.
After that it's a matter of itergrating the body wiring of the 86 323 into
the engine wiring of the GTR.
    Now pics! :D

This is her before anything has been done with stock b6 and f-type transaxle.

Engine, stock exhaust, and transaxle removed. The stock wiring was removed soon after this picture was taken.

Just getting the front clip home.

I striped down the clip and removed the bpd and four wheel drive transaxle

    Four wheel drive transaxle removed

New flywheel and Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch installed on bpd and g-type transaxle before rebuild.

Lowering the engine in so we can figure out how the fabricated mount on the
passenger side needs to be made. Also the g-type has been rebuild and painted.

    Tight fit...

I've got the fabricated mount in there now also in the middle of moving the radiator to the
passenger side from the driver side to make the intercooler piping easier to make.
More pictures when I get out and take them the next few days. :D

Looks like a good start. What did you do with all the gtr stuff and 4wd transmission? Also, I beg you to take the motor and tranny back out and get a different clutch setup, that won't hold the power of the gtr motor. Just try to save ya some work down the road.

      Thank you.
I still have most of the parts from the clip (suspension, brakes, some body parts, 4wd transaxle) and I imagine I'll start selling them soon on the forum. I also have a 88 323 gt donor car siting out here I will be parting out at the same time.

On a more depressing note, you really don't think that clutch is going to hold?
The damn kit cost me $300 and it would suck to not use it, but I guess it would be worse to have it fail...

that clutch is definitely no good, you would be better off using the stock GTR clutch and flywheel that you removed to install it.

nice build, you're going to out-sleeper me!!

Noone's had luck with the CF DF? Hmm.

I've got the ACT HD-SS and its held anything I could throw at it, but its a pricey kit.

Excellent project btw, I might be interested in some parts (particularly the gtr shifter & cables, and upper trans mount at this time) PM me a price...

Front clip was pricey... $2400 USD My father started this project, he ended up buying a RX-8 and passed the project to me, and was looking for a b6t and started calling importers in Atlanta and one company happened to have a GTX listed, which turned out to be a GTR and he jumped on it.

Sorry to say it will remain a LHD, just to much work and unneeded attention(She's going to be a sleeper!) so the bumper is out also.

You can't use the GTR clutch and flywheel with the g-type transaxle, can you?

Sorry but the transaxle will more than likely be sold as one piece.

A lot of it is in misc boxes waiting to be sold... I'll start I thread before long under the Classifieds board. Anything in particular you are looking for? Let me know.

Nice, i've collected most of the wiring schematics and fsms. The way mine is wired right now is I kept all the engine wiring from the GTR and removed all the body and other unnecessary wires and after I start it and make sure that she is running right I will splice the body wiring (headlights, taillights, etc) from the 323 ('86) in to the GTR fuse box.
