    1992 LX rebuild and future Infini conversion

    First post, some damage shots and fender removal.

    I'll post what parts I have ready for transplanting tomorrow.

    When first bought:


    After rear ending a Toyota Taco:


    Smashed EDM headlamp and corner


    Headlight removed, apparent power steering fluid reservoir tank damage:




    Manual Swap completed!

    Swap ECU - done
    Swap Throttle Body and TPS - Done
    Drop Auto trans - Done
    Swap in Manual Trans - Done
    Swap Manual Engine Harness - Done

    Replace Clutch Assembly, Throw out bearing, Release bearing - Done

        Some pics of the replacement parts I have lined up:

        MX-3 armrest. It was already installed but took it out for the time being.

        So far I really only have the body pieces minus a hood, passenger headlight, and headlight trim.

        Today I just removed the offending crushed passenger side fender.

        Also I inspected my EDM's and found that they are not electronic leveling, they can only be leveled manually with a screwdriver. Maybe thinking about one day switching to electronic leveling capable EDM's.

        Also even though I already have a replacement set of JDM corners, I think I may sell them and get a pair of Infini corners from Corksport.

              Haven't updated in a while, but basically my work became stagnated because of the core support and chassis crimp. I found out that my radiator, although warped because of the damaged cors support, was not leaking and still retained all of it's coolant. Also the AC fan is still probably ok, just the plastic shroud is a little cracked (anyone wanna donate a AC fan shroud?).

              Since I learned that the core support is essentially welded to the chassis and too much of a pain to remove and replace, I'm seriously considering going to a collision repair shop to have it straightened out on the racks. The amount of deviation isn't that much, and since I removed a lot of the pieces already and have most of the body parts, I'm hoping the shop doesn't charge too much.

              Lastly, I obtained a nice MOMO Infini horn button. =)

                    Haven't posted in my build thread in a while. Kaleoextreme and I did work this past presidents' day weekend and got a lot of progress done.

                    However I decided not to fix the old 92 LX, and instead opted to swap the atx in my black 94 to a mtx from the old 92. I originally wanted to swap the motor as well but the thing has been sitting around and rusting for a year and I didn't want to swap the motor and find out it's not in working order.
















                    All we have left is to take apart the clutch pedal assembly and harness. Then separate the trans, replace the clutch, pressure plate, and resurface the fly wheel, then find another solid weekend to drop the auto trans and swap everything in.

                        It's because Hawaii has got some junk law concerning salvage title vehicles. If it has a salvage title (which it does) it must be fully repaired by a certified mechanic, I can't just have the kink bent back and finish the rest myself.

                        I got some quotes from several mechanics before and they all estimated around the 3,000 dollar range. So ATX to MTX swap it is!

                          3g for a rad support is a little overkill. we have the same law here in Ontario, I use to check the cars out for the ministry. you needed to follow certain regulations. my mazda was also a salvage vehicle. the damage was a little larger than what yours has. had to go through a whole process to get it retitled. too bad cus that car looks way cleaner than wht i have found around here lately.

                            That's stupid that it requires it to be repaired by a certified mechanic. In Florida it just has to be inspected for safety reasons if I remember correctly?

                              I know, tell me about it. Floridian Pro enthusiasts are lucky, good fan base and no junk laws holding home mechanics back.
