Would a TDO5(Evo VIII) turbo be a good upgrade for the b6t?

I would like to your views on the Evo 8 TDO5 turbo upgrade for the 323 gt equip with a b6t engine. Here in Jamaica the turbos that I have @ my disposal are mainly from the Mitsubishi Evo 1-9 4G63, Subaru Impreza WRX/Sti, Nissan SR20DET & RB20T-25T, Toyota 3SGTE & 4EFE-T just to name a few.

    Current upgrades are as follows

    Jspec B6T swap
Close Ratio 5-speed lsd G series gearbox
    Toyota CT20 Turbo swap
    Mazda 626 gt intercooler swap
    Hallman MBC
HKS PFC FCON (purchased from me since i have acquired my Megasquirt)
Mazdaspeed Eibach lowering springs with Kyb struts
Suspension Technique poly bushing endlinks kit
15" rims with Dunlop 195/50/15 tyres

    Future plans as follows

Delta fin 28X6X2.5 i/c already owned
    2.5" intercooler piping kit
    2.5" exhaust upgrade
    AEM wideband kit
    8mm plug wires
    Front brake upgrade
HKS, Greddy or eqiv blow off valve
Front & rear strut tower braces
Stainless braided lines at all corners
    Performance clutch kit

Here are some pix of the car that the setup is going to be done to.

    B6T GT alongside BPT GT

    Project Rallye

Jspec B6T with Hallman MBC installed

    Current front mount intercooler setup

Will be replaces by this when we purchase the 2.5" i/c piping kit

I/C piping setup will replicate this setup when i am done with it. This setup is from Familia GT "Project 1988 Mazda Familia GT" who is a member on this forum. I really love & admire his 323 gt setup.

It'd make good power.. it just depends on where you want the power to be..

    1988 White GTX - #1 parts
1988 Black GTX - #2 reliably broken touge monstar (294,000 miles no rebuilds) - dead
1988 Blue GTX - #3 in progress (view here)
1988 Blue GTX - #4 BPT swapped weekend warrior.
    1988 White GTX - #5 Rally car

So it is laggy for b6t? Then this turbo would better suit the bpt then?

I honestly don't remember how big those guys are compared to stock...

dodgazfrom the nz mazda forums ran one for a while, im not sure from what generation evo, but on his bpt he said it lagged a bit till it finally spooled, then it was a beast... try it out, you might just need to use the brake a little to get it into boost earlier...lol...

Since it is laggy for the bpt then it is best to stay away from installing it on the b6t.

These are the turbo I have to choose from TDO4 15G, CT20B, Garrett T25, Garrett T25/T28 & Garrett T28. Is there a T3/T4 that would suit the engine setup that i have listed for the b6t?

            Jspec B6T swap
Toyota CT20 (smoking now & then)
            Hallman MBC
            HKS PFC FCON
            Delta fin 28X6X2.5 i/c
            2.5" intercooler piping kit
            2.5" exhaust upgrade
            AEM wideband kit
            NGK 8mm plug wires
            HKS

I noticed a touch of lag with those even on an EVO8. I think with an engine that much smaller, it would be VERY pronounced. Just my opinion.

Are you going to run a custom manifold? I don't know about the TDO4 15G or the CT20B, but I'm pretty sure the Garrett T25, Garrett T25/T28 & Garrett T28 won't bolt onto the factory b6T exhaust manifold.

Does anyone know for sure? I would love to replace and upgrade my blown turbo n my 323GT.

I'm pretty certain all of those will result in a custom manifold.

The Garrett definitely won't bolt on a B6T manifold directly. For mine, I made an adapter machined out of 3/4" thick steel. If you go this route, the measurements are critical because the bolt holes are pretty close together but it will work if done carefully.

A custom exhaust is not necessary. What will be necessary is the adapter plate. You could bolt it onto the exhaust manifold or weld it to the manifold. My friend gone 4 years with a flange welded to his exhaust manifold without any issues.
