    what is this turbo?

I have been looking into upgrading my turbo on my gtx lately and looking around i read a lot about when different turbos hit full boost. Then i noticed that my car seems to lag a little bit more than most people are saying the vj14 should. (Im hitting 12psi @ 2700-3000 rpm) so today i had a look under the hood and it looks like the turbo says its a vj18. I was told the vj14 was replaced with a j-spec turbo off a stock gtx of the same year and that it was the vj13. does anyone know wheat the vj18 is off of and if i should still be looking to upgrade?
    thanks

i dont think a vj18 is right, can you get a pic or clean up the nameplate and recheck

      VJ14: RHB52MW-52002MP12NR5BRKL3711EZ
      VJ18: RHB52MW-52002MP12NRBRKL3711EZ

As far as I know, it has the same A/R specs as the VJ14. It could be just a slightly re-designed unit of the VJ14 for some strange reason - Oil / Coolant ports, flange is slightly different, inlet/outlet slightly different, whatever - maybe to use on a different car?

snaped a pic in the driveway. says vj18 8805
        serial no.RHB5 13205

        part no is totally gone
if it is essentiallythe same turbo is there a reason it would be more laggy?
        thanks

You could ask the gurus on the yahoo forum. I don't know any more than what I've told ya.

i have the jspec gtx motor in my car, and it has teh same turbo on it. the vj18. i believe i looked it up and its almost identical. it spools the same as my USDM gtx motor. other things could affect spool as well, ie. intake, exhaust. on my vj18 i believe im at 15psi around the 3200 rpm mark, and around 13psi at teh 2700 mark.
