    silly fun car to autoX

I drove a friend's car for a couple fun runs at an autoX this past sunday.

    Just plain stupid-fun.

I don't remember what year it is, but it's a Honda:

Just a B16, but the car's got a couple minor mods.

It's gutted to the point of only weighing 1700 lbs.

    It's had power steering added.

And about a week and a half ago, it got set up with a Jackson supercharger, giving it somewhere in the range of 250whp.

I just giggled and laughed the entire time I was in the car. just plain ridiculous!!!! I might have to build one for myself, that's how fun it was...

I believe it. When a car is that light even 140 hp is fun. 250 is crazy in something like that.
It's not fair how much support honda's have compared to our mazdas, if only..

Lessee, 250 whp and 1700 lb... hmm, carry the 8, multiply the remainder, add the product, and ... that seems to result in... gobs o' torquesteer/facepain gigles.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

suprisingly enough, I didn't notice any torquesteer.

Maybe because I'm used to the depowered rack on my huge-scrub-radius Corolla, or maybe because I was going too fast to notice it.

I'm still giggling as I type this, just remembering!!

I wonder if he'd be up for bringing that out onto the lake this winter, with some bolted tires...

I always wanted to try autocrossing, but there are no places that do it around here.... I wish someone would try putting one on in a parkinglot. I'd try my protege in it!

Who puts that autocross on, sarge?

I run with the first three, and still want to get to the last two at some point. My plan is for the MSCC autoX in Jefferson, and definitely the Lapping Day at Shawano.

Would my car be legal in any of these?

Do you have a windshield installed? I don't remember if it's required.

I can find out about the windshield, but usually as long as you're not leaking fluids, your battery is solidly held down with positive terminal covered, a working seat belt, a helmet (rated snell M2000 or better, sometimes only DOT rated), and no obvious broken parts, you can run.

I do have a windshield. How much does it cost to enter, and how many runs do you get?

I think members are 25, non-members are 30. membership varies from 50 to 25 to 20, depending on the club.

Usually 6 runs at minimum, at some venues we get up to 10. Some, we stop at 8 and do fun-runs after the trophy presentations. Anywhere from 25 to 125 attendance, but commonly around 40-50. Smaller groups = more runs!
