I wanted to know if a sohc b6 afm would work on a b6t? Or even the bp?

Well I don't have the car or the afm, I am in the process of tryi g to buy one. And the owner believes the afm is bad. Because its misfiring when in gear. I was just seeing if I need to track down a b6t one or use the b6. I am familiar with tuning them, if that's the case I may as well find a fc one. I'm gonna check the car out this week so ill know for sure.
But he said it misfires only with a load on it in gear. But doesn't at idle... could be a million things...lol

When my MAF (due to mechanical damage) hadn't possibility to move slightly, I've fixed it in "average" position (just to get home) - but there was problems as on idle, and as on gear. (I mean overrich mixture on the idle and on gear ).
When I've disassembled it - I've thought - it is eternal device! Only external/internal mechanical desctuction could cause error indication of sensor. Rheostat is well constructed (as for attrition of friction track) - so check it for correct resistance as it is written in workshop manual.
Good luck!sigpic

The owner told me it idles@ 900. And revs to 3500 and starts to misfire backfirfe and stumble and won't rev unless mashed to the floor.
But in gear its useles.
He also said it started to do this after the first heat cycle of a headgasket replacement, and timing is perfect.Last edited by jitb37; 07-21-2010, 02:32 PM.

To me misfire is flow meter, at least when it has happened to me...
Bad disty whenever it has happened to me is inconsistent power band.
I would check that all sensors are connected or cables that the shield is bad and touching metal. I dont remember right now, but there is a sensor near the thermostat that is green color, well on the BP that when it is not connected does the same symptom.
By the way, check error codes, on Escort and Protes is 10 and ground and tell us the numbers...
