    MS is in - It runs!! - But barely - Help!!

    Well, finally got the MS hooked up, fired up first try.

    My problem is the timing, its way off. I tried using the trigger wizard in tuner studio, but the timing light says like 178 degrees advanced.

    Am I missing something?

    did you set trigger angle to 0 adjust timing to to 10 and set the trigger back to 10?

      No, I didn't.

      So, I want to open up the trigger wizard, set trigger angle to zero, start the car the turn the disty till the timing light reads 10 degrees advanced. Then change the trigger to 10 in the trigger wizard.

      Is that what your sayin?

        Ok, I did that, huge difference, it will actually rev now. My idle is at 1800 so i'll have to figure out how to get that down then set the base timing.

          are you using idle control with the stock valve? mine is not working right now (dead idle valve) and with the idle adjust screw all the way in it still idles a little high.

            No, I'm not using IAC yet. That'll be a winter project.

            I had a vac leak, fixed that, now the idle is around 1300.

            Got a little spit and sputter when i throttle it, just minor, gonna try and tweak that before I try and drive it at all.

              ok, I still dont think I have the timing right.

              I read somewhere in the megamanual, that the trigger offset should be between 50 and 75 so that the megasquirt can pull maximum timing.

              I tried locking the ignition advance in TS to 10 degrees, then changing the trigger offset till the timing light reads 10 degrees.

              First of all, the MS wouldn't hold the timing at ten, it would change everytime I changed the trigger offset.

              I managed to get the timing light and the ignition advance in megasquirt set at 11, but its with a trigger offset of 12.

              12 is nowhere near 50, lol

              What am I doing wrong?
