    quick wheel bearing question

    Hello,

I'm replacing the wheel bearings all around, and the tech who ordered them told me that they were the same part number for all 8. ... was he mistaken?

Other things I need new parts for when doing the bearings are the seals, and the hub nuts ... correct?

    Thanks

No he wasn't, yes you need seals, and I don't see why you couldn't reuse the axle nuts, I always did.
You do know you are in for a fairly big job replacing those damn things, yes? Big press needed unless you're a savage and you remove the old races with a die grinder, hopefully without ruining the hub?
Make damn certain you keep the spacers in the exact same orientation as you found them as well...

      Hi Jay,

Thanks for the response. I know I'm in for a big job ... I don't have high expectations for it going smoothly either. I'll just take my time. Worst case, I'll take the hub to a shop to get the bearing off.

Is that your car in your avatar?
      EDIT: Yup it is. Awesome!

like Jay says, do NOT mix up or loose the spacers that go between the bearings. i used the wrong one and only got 300 miles before i was replacing the bearings again.

and correct all bearings are the same, 2 per wheel
seals are in pairs, inner and outer, u will need 4 pairs
axle nuts. your preference. i have reused but they recommend new so that u can punch the new ones down.

Very important, torque on the axle nut sets the correct pressure on the bearings as they squeeze on that center spacer. under or over torquing the axle nuts on BF hubs is a fast way to shorten thier life.

Might wanna check your brake rotors while ur already doing the job since they r inside the hub, use lots of High temp bearing grease, and you should be good to go.

I must be reatrded, is this only on the AWD? I just did my 2WD and the rear had National A2s on the inners, and A15s on the outers. And yes mine is disc in rear.

Must be. I never messed with BF fwd cars so I dunno for sure on that, but GTX is same innner and outer and all 4 corners.

2WD fronts ...(can't remember about the rear discs..likely though) and 4WD are the same...USE Timken SET 11's.

Great info here, I am close to replace mine in the front with my Mazda 323 1991, Will the information about spacers etc applies to my model as well?

1991=BG I think, which should = great big donut shaped wheelbearing with no spacer issues but will NEED to be pressed out
