    racing again!

Hey everyone, I'm racing in an enduro on Friday, September 3rd at Shawano Speedway in Shawano, WI! It's normally a 1/2 mile dirt track, but it's been shortened to a 1/3 mile dirt track for the enduro, but it will still be VERY fast! The series that is holding it is the Impact Survival Series. http://iraceiss.com/ISS/Home.html

We need as many spectators as possible to keep the series going, so if you can, please come and watch it, or better yet, take your race car and race with us! Green Flag is at 7 pm!

Well, I had lots of problems yesterday, including problems with the ignition. My engine started missing right before the race. When my dad took the CAS sensor apart, the cap was melted. My dad had to run to the parts store, and got back just in time to get it replaced. It was still missing when I pulled in line, but not as bad. But that changed after a few laps. It really got bad then..... I went into the pits after a while to have my plug wires changed, and after that it ran perfect! I was very quick, but there were a few faster cars. After a while, my clutch went out, then my shifter broke again..... I had to go half throttle until I was up to speed, and then I floored it. (it would grip at full speed) I was passing quite a few cars for quite a while, even with the problems. Then with about 30 laps to go, my left front strut busted, and I slide to a stop right after exiting turn 4. My axle came apart, so I couldn't move..... I got out of the car on the next red flag, and the race ended shortly after.

Oh well...... Bad stuff happens when the track is as rough as it was. I just hope it's fixable.

I will upload the video sometime in the future. I'm tired today.......

it's all good, it's just nature's way of making you replace all the weak links!!

Yeah, but it isn't good when you don't have money to fix the car.

(But thank you for what you said, sarge. what you said made me smile for a little while, as you put it into a new, positive perspective. )

Yeah, that sucks. But you just gotta keep at it. If you really think about it, you're racing a car that was meant to be an economy car.. The parts really weren't meant to take that kind of abuse. Maybe you could drive it a bit easier? Like pace yourself, you don't want to go full bore off the get go and break the car. Would you rather finish in the top 10 or not finish at all?

Ha ha. I'll NEVER take it easy when racing. But yeah, 50 out of the 77 cars dropped out, so I know that these cars aren't meant for this. And it doesn't help that mine's a rot box.

That is one enduro race where the driver's Camelbak must be filled with beer instead of water.

I see that sometimes you let go on the turns, kind of like keeping the revs up, on/off/on on the throttle. Is it because you are losing traction?

At 5:40 that is very dangerous that vehicle in the middle of the track, I saw and was like WTHF, some close call. They should move the vehicles out before continuing the race. And the cracked windshield is priceless...

I go on/off the gas in the turns because if I stay on it, it won't turn, and if I just coast around, that slows me down. If I went part throttle, it's ignition problems got even worse.

And keeping cars on the track is exciting for the crowd! Lots of crashes when they do it like that! Look at part 7 of the video. (or was it part 6?) I was going wide open around the turn and I crashed into a parked car at about 50 mph! And yes, that windshield broke when a gas door off of one of the cars in front of me came off and hit me.
