So today was a good day, hard working day , but a good day.

Today after class I went up to the bank in cross county to get some money, because I wanted to get a new tire installed on the 323. So a took out 40 beans.

Anyway I get to the local junkyards, no more than 2 minutes from my house, and I am looking around to see if anyone has any 1st gens.
So I go to one place and I ask the guy if he has any 1st gen protege's .. he says no but what do you need , I say- "shocks".
He says he has some and wants 40 bucks each or 120 for em all. So I am skeptical and I am like let me see them.. basically he is a bull**** artist and didn't have them..

So anyway I cruise around some more..

haha the car was sitting on it's disks...
So I get out and ask the guy what's good with the protege and can I have anything on it..
I tell him I want the shocks and he says 30.. so I was like ok cool. I go home to change and on the way home I get to thinking. I should just take all 4. They would be 120 and to hell with it .I can just put the money back in my account.
I go get the money .. get all my tools .. and change my cloths into workAwear.

I go down there tell him I want all 4 shocks .. he says 100 bucks .. I slip him 5 20's and I am off and pulling this bitch apart.

I get all 4 shocks off with the car sitting on the rotors.in 1.5 hours. haha..
I snatch the starter relay and the fuses.
I then take a look inside and OH **** .. A TACH .. oh hell no , I gotta have it ..
So I rip the frigin dash apart.. to hell with taking my time lol .. and get that gauge cluster...

Take another look ,, what's this the drivers side door handle that I need ... NA YO it's mine.. 20 bucks for the both of them ...

this protege also had the adjustable stearing column , which I wanted to take but had no more $$ and I wanted to take the whole center console. I could have gotten that for another 20 Bucks ..

damit why can't I have a endless budget
well I had to take 80 bucks out my savings account .. so I am paying myself back

so basically I got
4 struts( with springs and mount and bolts) = 100 bucks
gauge cluster(w/tach) + door handle = 20 bucks

All this will be installed in the 323

Sweet. Im off to the "Pull A Part" tomorrow after class, trying to score some MX3 seats among other various things I need.

You know you could have gotten the zx2 struts for $160?

Yea, I have just about all the niceities from the LX in my 323 (tach, console, clock)... w00t!

Now I just need the engine, hehehe

yeah I could have,
but I am working primarily on the protege and I scavenge parts for the 323 ...
basically a cheap builder. lol
plus I needed a rear strut mount.. it was gone, and you know that when you blow a strut mount, if you don't change it right away the shock is a wrap ..
well all the shocks were a wrap .. the car is like a rolling waterbed.

But It had that same center console that you have . and i was going to snatch it but my time was very limited . I had to go to work and I still needed to go home and wash all that grease off my hands and hold a fresh.

I didn't look at the tach redline to be honest with you...
I saw the tach and just ripped it out the dash lol ...

it had the little clock under the emergency flasher. but I wan't really interested in it .
the driver side door handle is priceless though

Sounds almost like the pulls I made. I got a set of MX-3 seats, a glass sunroof from a Tracer LTS, and a set of Escort GT sideskirts. I can't wait to get all this on the car.

I woulda sold you 2 front strut assemblie's off the front of my parts EGT for like 30 bucks bruce, and these were replaced struts they are from a company that came out in 97, they are in excellent shape. I got a lot of **** laying around

im lucky i dont need to goto a j-yard to get myself parts but i wish we had a pull urself yard round here, they wont even let you in the yard to look

no can do, went with the chasis of the car.. wish i would have pulled it with the sway bar but i kinda neglected the rear of that car..
