Well since mazda323performance seems to be MIA i guess i'll come back here.
got this car a while back (june 2009 IIRC) and never made any progress, but i decided its time to get it running.
and of course the amazing 80's digital dash
purchase price of $300 with an overheating problem and a slew of other issues.
turned out the radiator was stopped up and falling apart inside of itself. went on ebay and purchased a civic aluminum radiator about a month later and hadn't touched it since.
fast forward to august 2010 and the list of things i need to do stands as this:
radiator and finish cooling system
starter? (iffy)
fuel pump? (maybe)
center diff motor (i do have a spare)
suspension.
it does have some rust spots as you can see but for the cost of the car and the rarity of the model i couldn't pass up the deal when it came across.
progress as of yesterday:
i drilled out the pre-tapped bung in teh radiator to fit the mazda coolant temp sensor, and i ordered an NPT bung for the larger NPT threaded sensor and will have that welded into the radiator as well. then i just have to route the plumbing and the cooling system should be done.
the OE intercooler will do for now but i do have 3 mx-6 intercoolers sitting around if i decide to do that upgrade.
the car is still stock under the hood aside from an air filter but i have a few mx-6 turbos laying around as well and may throw one of them on in the future. only time will tell. my two possible endings as of right now are get it running and sell it before winter, or get it running and drive it through winter.
anyway, figured i'd start the worklog here since i'm hoping to make some actual progress on it.
