    Boosted Escort Holset build

    Started tearing off my manifold and ebay turbo set up that is currently on my escort. Going to be putting on a Hy35 turbo from a 2001 dodge cummings. Spool up should be around 3500 rpm. Will be working out the following challenges with the build.

    1. find right oil line fittings for the turbo.

    2. make a bracket to hold the weight of the turbo.

    3. custom downpipe with my 3 inch exhaust

      Well today I got off the old turbo, wastegate and exhaust manifold. I hate exhaust work.

        lol mee too man mee to exhaust work sucks but hey its better than doing a head gasket or replacing piston rings lol or a valve job but yea man take pics of the tear down and build up

                      what manifold is that ? Is it the one on ebay for the miata ? I'm thinking of buying and and bracing it for my up coming build but i was worried about clearance and turbo placement in the escort engine bay.

                        id get rid of tht turbo mani. i have the same one and its ****. had to reweld it idk how many times and even with bracing it ****in cracks. tell u man, get another one before its to late. lol

                          Making some progress. I have the turbo bolted up. Decided to stay with the internal wastegate. Still need to hook up the down pipe. Bought a 50mm blow off valve.

                          Almost have the car running off megasquirt. As far as I can tell the spark from the megaquirt isn't firing at the right speed it is too slow. To test spark we took out one of the spark plugs and set it on the strut tower. Not really sure what the problem is there. I may have to take a closer look at the setting for spark in the megasquirt. The settings should be fine because lex loaded it with one of his maps but I need to look over everything again. Once I figure out how to get it started with megasquirt the hard part will be done.
