    pirite's BP build

Alright, figure it's time to start one of these. I'll say right now that I have few to no pictures which should change as i get going with the build.

I'm currently in an auto tech course at a local college and this semester I'm in the automotive engines class which also has a lab. I picked up a BP for REAL cheap off of craigslist locally and have just started tearing into it during the lab.

Let me start out by telling you what the motor is going to be going into.
My 1994 MX-3 which currently has the B6 in it. this is how it looked when i first got it after i took the steelies off it and put on some rota slipstreams:

Not too long after that i swapped out the normal H1 bulbs for some HIDs (6k):

shortly after that i decided to black out the turn signals, side markers, and tail lights:

Also swapped out the steering wheel from a '94 MX-3 i found in the junk yard. Cant complain when you get a stock steering wheel for $8:

the most recent maintenance I've done was some seafoam:

and since my water pump decided to go two days ago that just got done as well.

Now the plan for the build is going to be a straight up boost build. I'm thinking something around 9:1 compression, MegaSquirt, and maybe somewhere around 15psi of boost. This may not get updated a whole lot in the next few months but hopefully I'll remember to grab some pictures while im at school. This will be updated when the swap happens though for sure.

I'm very open to comments, ideas, hints, tricks, help, and all the above. lol

Hopefully ill keep all of you entertained,
    -Luke

Goodluck. If you need help feel free to post something. I'm on here a lot and know BP swaps pretty well.
What all are you doing to the engine now?
            You gonna overbore or anything?

probably not going to overbore, but the engine has been sitting for awhile and with doing this at school i have access to an oven to put the block in along with legit parts cleaner so ill be able to make this motor look just like it did in 1994.

i also have to talk to my parts guy and see what he can get me and what ill have to find myself. i know that he said rods and pistons were going to be special order so they would take two weeks or more just to get.

If you're going to do pistons, rods, etc.. might as well order them online and get some nice aftermarket stuff.

                    tore into the motor today.

                    popped off the valve cover:

                    got the cams out:

                    and got the head off:

most likely going to over bore now, gonna get some .040s

edit: and for anyone looking for the bolt size to mount the motor to the stand theyre M12x1.50 and a total pain in the @$$ to find. ended up costing $10 for four bolts, washers and two nuts.

Check out SuperTech forged pistons, 9@1 84mm which is what you want. It does not break the bank and they are solid pistons. Forged rods, H-tuned brand, the whole deal for 720 dollars or so, depending how the season goes up or down.

But if you dont want to break the bank, a t3/t4 at 15 psi cast pistons are good enough. The weak link are the rods. The same, dont want to go with h-tuned, get yourself some gtr rods...

I was about to say, Where did you buy the bolts?
