    junk in the trunk

So I upgraded the rear struts on my 87 which gave me about an inch back however I'm still looking for the rear to go higher and the front to drop. The issue is now that I have my sub box and tools in the back there is alot of weight. So is there a stiffer spring that can be installed in the rear? I've considered swapping front to rear but was unsure. The car is my DD so it has to be drivable and practical cause right now I'm bottoming out.

I'll look into that but I was surprised at how little stiffer struts effected the rear height. If it weren't for the fact the wheels rub when I ride four people around and the fact that it bottoms on driveways I would leave it cause I like the way the rear looks.

Struts do NOT affect ride height at all, really. They just control how fast the spring bounces.

SPRINGS are what gives you ride height.

I lost two inches when they blew so I figured I would gain it back with stiffer shocks but I only gained an inch an a half

Possible your springs are compressed as well. If your ass end dropped real low with your gear in the trunk and has been like that, or the cars been used as a storage unit, then the chances of that are good. If you want a stronger set up that will possibly not be as comfortable, but keep your rear end off the ground, try the wagon springs.

Well I have about a 200 lb speaker box when you add the amp and speakers. Then I have another 100lbs of tools at all times back there. A little discomfort is alright because the thing already rides soft in my opinion. Would simply swapping the front springs to the rear and rears to the front achieve what I'm wanting? Cause I've decided I like the lowered look and want to bring the front down as well. The only issue I'm having us tire rub on the wheel wells when I have people in the backseat.

I do know that the car rode around with bad shocks for some time before I aquirred it. But he only had the two full spares in the rear. Not the 300lb cargo load that I have.

You can't swap front to rear, they are different springs.

I know they have different spring rates but are the springs similar or are the pearch mounts different sizes? Because if the fronts fit the rear that would give me the front drop and rear raise that I want. Since I do have more weight in the rear.

Or would the wagon springs be the better bet?
