GTX / GTR ? Help!

I have a mazda familia gtx 4wd 89 turbo.
It's my latest purchase and i want her going sweet. They bodies in mint condition, just needs a bit of touch up paint here and there.

Now the engine.. currently running standard 1.8 4wd turbo etc etc
I know the gearboxes in these cars get pretty shagged and my one is starting to head out the door, which i expected. Whats better to put in, a gtr box or a strengthened gtx?

The engine is running 15psi, and has been for awhile, a long time I'm guessing, as i bought like that and the switch ain't working, so I'm thinking my engine may be quite tired.
Do i want to forge my pistons, etc (what else needs doing) or do a complete new motor, (drop in a gtr or something) or complete rebuild (which involves what)

Also, at the moment it has a miss. But only happens occasionaly at an idle, it sort of jumps around.. so maybe more of a idle prob than a miss? What can i do to sort this? I replaced the spark plugs, number 1 was burning dif to the others, and ran some injector cleaner through. It has been sitting awhile also.. and seller said never noticed..

first off just be done and get the gt4 conversion done and over with and not deal with any box issues again,..

if your looking for sorta cheaper route rods just find someones old gtr rods over there and get some wiseco or better pistons, its actually whats in the motor i have to throw in still...and i figure it should be good for a bit of boost for a while atleast...lol...

for the fuel try to run some good injector cleaner thru it, mine was running a little wierd after sitting a while and i put in some stp super concentraded fuel system clean on an empty tank on the way to the gas station, i think that alone fixed the slight miss i had...

also whats canterbury? nz? find marlon/tenshi over ther he can show ya all the cool tricks of the trade with these things, he got me alot of my goodies....lol....

Canterbury is the province i live in. Who or what is marlon/tenshi??

gt4 from the toyotas, and marlons my buddy over in auckland i have source me parts we wouldnt get here otherwise.... have you been on amazd.co.nz at all?
