    civic radiator

who here is running a civic radiator on their gtx?

i'm curious about how you've run the water lines. pics would be great. and what hoses/couplers you used.

IMO, on radiators size does matter.

When boosted on a BP motor I decided to give it s test to the civic radiator. Mine was the aftermarket aluminum one with a very strong fan. I know it is not the same platform, but just talking about whats and whats not. In the honda-tech, b20vtec and d-series forums it has been tested again and again that larger 2 to 3 line radiators are much better than those little civic rads.

On my application I got a automatic transmission rad with the tranny fittings tapped, but have heard many good things about the Escort GT and more so because the fan is angled toward the engine.

i'm only running the car in winter really. it'll be fine. the overall volume of the thing is larger than the OE gtx one.

Heres an early pic of when i mounted mine. the top side was easy but i didnt relocate the bottom outlet so i had to fab up a wierd S shaped return pipe from metal since it was gonna be close to the downpipe

yeah the bottom is what i'm fighting now. i'm looking at a similar s curve thing and wasn't sure if anyone else had a better "hook up" solution off another car.

Like I always state, with 10@1 cast, 210-220 compression with the Mazda auto radiator, boosted, I can be on stop and go traffic without turning the fan on as it is set to manual on demand.

With the aluminum civic rad even with the fan on it would almost reach 3/4 of temps.

The way I found out to reroute it is to go as close as possible to the block, a shor piece of rubber coming out of the rad, metal piping and another piece of rubber on the water pump inlet.

But before I forget I changed the coupler that connects to the water pump. If I remember well its from a Dodge Aries. The good thing about the dodge coupler is, it is not aluminum so talking it to a muffler shop to modify the mouth will not cost much, but of course the aluminum one is much better to prevent corrosion. At least the local junkyard does NOT charge for radiator hoses, so there I was grabbing all kinds, this way test via trial and error.
