    protege cluster in a escort

ok idk if this is the write place to put this first of all

    but ok specs:

1993 ford escort with a KL swap and turbo (which isnt going to matter)

    1994 (?) protege LX cluster

ok i have the cluster completely apart all teh gauges out of the cluster and everything

my question is (and i will take pics and what not later) but can i wire up all the stock gauges to work with a v6?

now i know ill have to figure out something with the speedo since its cable driven. But for example can i wire up the tach so it reads for a v6?

i looked on the back of the gauge and i see 3 spots were its wired up, 1 of them is ground (labeled GND)

and then the other 2 reads something in japanise or something

the temp gauge has 2 spots on it (i dont remember off the top of my head if there was anything labeled to them)

and then same with the fuel gauge

so has anyone done this before, or no if it can be done at all? i would be very nice to have a stock cluster that works with this swap, even though itll prolly take a bunch of wireing but thats why im here!

any help would be greatly appriciated!!!!

I am not 100% sure how the wiring on the V6 is, but if the tach is ran the same way as the BP, you will have an issue with it reading 3/2 too fast since it uses coil pulses and now your coil is pulsed 6 times per 720 degrees versus 4.

yea i know that, but idk if there is a way to make it read for a v6

for example aftermarket tach's you have to connect or not connect 2 wires on the back of the tach to read a I4, v6, v8

didnt know if i could some how mod it so it would be like reading a v6

when i did my kl swap to the pro I used an autometer 5'' but when I do it again im gunna use one of those dakota digital converters... its nice if ur trying to maintain stock appearance,, and plus i think having a big tach is tacky hahah

yea i no what you mean

ive been debating on getting a mx3 gs cluster and interior harness so its all plug and play

but i do like having a shift light so im whatching the road not the tach when shifting, and aftermarket usually reads a lot more accurate ya know

Hey honda, there is an MX3 in the Falls that's being parted and it has the V6.
Let me know if you need details. It's NOT mine.
