    88 323 GT O2 Sensor replacement

I ripped the wire out of my Stock o2... Soooo I need a new one. Where can I get a stock Oxygen sensor? Would any late 80's mazda 323 1.6 single wire O2 work?

If I can't get a stock one, Would the universal NTK plug from corksport fit/work?? http://www.corksport.com/ntk-single-wire-o2-sensor.html

    Thanks
    -Brian

You can get the sensor from any auto parts store. It would be a good idea to buy an O2 sensor socket while you are there.

Ah ha. I figured there was such a tool, Thanks for all the help! I will be hitting NAPA tomorrow getting that socket and the 02.

So I am guessing the sensor is the same for the GT and the hatchbacks/ all 1.6L?

        Thanks

So I called NAPA today... $53 for a single wire O2.. That seems pretty steep right?

I appreciate the help But... the rockauto O2 does NOT come with a connector.. I will have to cut and splice the wires. I would rather get one with a stock connector. If I have to go universal I will but, I will look around a bit more for an OE replacement under $30 before I do.

However Rockauto does carry a denso O2 with a connector. For $27. I am not sure if it is the right connector but it looks to be.

You do NOT want to CUT AND SPLICE an O2 sensor wire!!!! The ecu has already calculated the resistance of the wire and connectors. splicing in different wire and twisting together splices will mess with its readings!!! these things read from fractions of a single volt, they are sensitive

you are right my friend , when you have to cut and splice you have to solder then use shink tubing.

Use butt connectors and shrink tubing only. Solder will change (slightly) the resistance of the wire. The O2 sensor wire should be SS.

There has been a long debate on this subject, and I've read both sides for and against soldering. I finally made my mind up when I read the info from Bosch itself. Of course, they could be wrong, but at least they hired some goon with a degree and paid him to actually research this.

Yep, I was going to say "snug". I made the mistake of torquing it down once.... that damn sensor's been glued to the manifold since 2002 but it still works.
