    Air/fuel ration guage question

I am attempting to install a basic air/fuel ration gauge into my GT. According to the directions one of the lines that I'm supposed to connect a wire to is the "signal wire" on the way from the sensor to the ECU. Anybody done this before? Anybody know where this is? A little help please?

    Thanks.

I tapped mine off the ECU. Shorter length of wire to run and it is out of the elements. Get a splice tap wire splice kit so there isn't any need to cut the wire.

Simple. The signel wire is the single wire that comes off your O2 sensor. Sounds like you bought just a simple narrow band a/f gauge.

Yeah.... but according to the picture in the directions, they don't want me to tap into that wire. That wire plugs into some other line and then there are several lines off of that one. One apparently is a ground. Another is the "signal" wire to the ECU. I like terry's idea but I still need to figure out which wire that would be. I agree that it would be nice not having to run a lot of wire and that it is in the cab of the car protected from the engine compartment environment.

Terry, how did you figure out which wire to tap into?

The instruction called for the gauge's signal wire to be tapped in to the O2 sensor wire. I grabbed the FSM and and traced the wire in the schematic from the O2 sensor to the ECU. I spliced the O2 sensor wire to the signal wire.

          I grounded the black wire.

I spliced the 12VDC switched power (red)

For the lights, I spliced in to the dimmer switch.

What are narrow band a/f gauges good for? From my understanding n/a apps don't need them and turbo apps need something more accurate.

Looks like pin 2D on the ecu.

The narrowband gauge will tell you if you are richer than 14.7 or leaner than 14.7 and that's about it. Unfortunately it is not very good for any sort of tuning.

The signal wire should tap into the O2 signal wire going to the ECU.
