    Midnight's shadow worklog take 3

    Yes, here we go again. This time I'm not going to go deep into my plans until I know for sure what they are. I'm aiming for a 200hp normal everyday clean car. How I grab it IDK fully yet. I'm thinking of just getting a t25 miata turbo manifold and saab t25. After doing the compression test, the motor looks solid enough. See link


    So my plans right now are to get her back to being good looking and sounding right. I'll be fixing everything I can before doing anything big.

    To do list:
    Reseal the motor and trans
    Fix tiny rust spot
    Replace old rad with a civic half rad
    Replace dr side mirror, Thanks honey for backing into my car
    Probably replace both front fenders
    Do some minor filling of dings
    Do some budget dynomat
    Fix dr window regulator
    Redo headliner
    paint upper inside mouldings
    Install mx3 ps rack and ps pump. Going to run protege pump and get new lines run


    If you're tired of seeing my threads then don't subscribe or post. It's not going to move fast either so don't expect all this dine by next summer. When I can spend a few bucks here and there I will. Mind you I have 3 kids and a huge mortgage payment. Also with christmas and holidays coming up money is tight. Also I'd like to really buy a dd so I don't need to rush to finish ****.

    Glad to see you are staying with the protege. I understand that it is hard to have a project car that is also a dd, I'm in the same boat. On the sound damping I believe FatMat might be something to look into, cheaper and just as good as Dynamat from what I have heard.

      glad you are keeping the pro.. i do the same thing have big plans for the clown car , but funds are tight . a bit here and a bit there..

        Awesome suggestion about the sound damping, that stuff is like a 3rd of the cost of Dynamat.

            Glad your stayin with it, Midnight shadow was one of the cars that got me inspired in this addiction.
            As for the time and money thing, I know that one to well. Mine is a DD to. Most parts are either free, modded to fit, or made by me. Ultra cheap either way. Function before looks atm. So don't worry, just have fun and do what you can, when you can. Like me.

              Whats the compression supposed to be?? Doesnt look to bad considering its probably original motor and it was turbo'ed at one point already, I wouldnt worry about it at all.

                According to the haynes manual its suppose to be 125-185(?) With no more than 15% difference between cylinders so she's healthy. 189k on the clock. Original motor and trans.

                For the dyno mat ****, I was looking on another forum and found a real cheap alternative. Its also lightweight. Can be found at lowes. Its called peel and stick. Roofing section. Do a youtube search on it.

                Also forgot to add a couple things to the to do list

                Fix crossmember bolts
                Add radio
                Clean HLAs
                New valve stem seals
                Put my mx3 alt in

                    Told you things would move slowly lol. After debating wether to sell her or build her my bud told me he was selling his wrecked bp t3 powered mx3. I didn't have the money for it but it was killing me inside not buying it. Well after losing out on a 96 626 v6 by less than an hr I said fk it and bought it. It will be delivered this weekend



                    Yea its not the cleanest setup but it runs so good and the price was perfect. I'm going to pull the motor and do a couple seals and **** before installing it. Won't be installed till spring.

                    Things id like to do before installing it:
                    Weld a t3 flange on the manifold(currently t28)
                    New ic piping
                    Redo the dp
                    New timing belt and tensioners
                    Oil pan gasket
                    Maybe slap a 2nd gen vc on it if I don't sell it first

                    Specs on the motor and turbo setup:
                    60k bp(verified)
                    T28 ebay manifold
                    F2t injectors(might upgrade to 460s)
                    China charger t3 rebuild 2000 miles ago with garrett seals and rebalanced
                    F1 stage 3 6 puck clutch installed 2000 miles ago
                    Fmic
                    Na ecu(probably going to get a gtx ecu before installing)
                    Ported and polished intake manifold with vics butterflys deleted
                    4 wire tps
                    Ss braided feed line with oil flow restrictor
                    U code vaf(will use b code when I go 460cc)

                      I'm confused- it's an eBay T28 manifold but it has a T3 on it?

                        Yes. That's why I need to find someone to weld at3 flange on. It actually sealed fine till the accident.

                          nice man! i thought you were going to grab it! i'd fix the manifold and run that turbo tho dude, why not? its rebuilt, all garrett internals...ect. just have to mount a half rad offset onto the drivers side since that manifold is pretty big...

                            let me make a suggestion, dont use peel and seal, or anything like it for that matter, it totally rotted out my caymen egt i used to have.... save your car, dont do it...lol...

                              For real? What would you recommend? I want to quiet the interior and make it more solid sounding when I close the the doors and trunk
