    My 88' GTX Worklog

Last night i pushed my KLZE festiva out of the garage to make room for my GTX that i got 3 weeks ago, and it needs a lot of work

As far as i know the GTX spent it's life in West Virginia and Virginia, the guy who had it, dis-ammebled it to re-do the car but then sold it to a buddy of his to square up an old debt, the man who got the GTX is a member here (neanderpaul) and is a friend of mine from fordfestiva.com, when he offered the car to me, i could not pass it up

neanderpaul wanted to keep the B6T/harness/ecu for his festiva, which was just fine with me since i still have my B6T that i pulled out of my festiva

So combined with parts i already have and the left over parts that came with the car, i have 95% of the parts needed to re-assemble the GTX, the only parts i need is a rear lower spoiler (i already have a lead on one, just waiting for the cash to buy it) and a front bumper, which i have a lead on a front bumper as well but just needing the cash to buy it lol

Anyways here's some fresh pics of the GTX that i just took tonight

this is the only rust that needs to be fixed, the rest of the body is in excellent shape

    The stock tranny

    The B6T

And the GTX in the garage ready for surgery

Nice to see you starting on it. BTW neanderpaul is less than 15 miles from me. Drives me nuts that I still haven't seen his Fastiva.

Would you mind taking some close up photos of the door jamb/inner fender area? I'm curious to know how easy/difficult it'd be to add some bracing in there. I'm referring to what's called a "fender bar" in this diagram:

Here's a prototype that we banged out for an older VW:

Btw, where do folks find brand new front fenders these days? Are they even available?

^^ Who needs a roll cage with all those add-on bars?! haha, just need a main loop (hoop? lol) bar and youd be golden!

BTW, car looks like a great platform for some serious work! Cant wait to watch.
