mx3 cluster question

    mx3 cluster question

    just wondering if the v6 and 4cyl clusters were plug and play.

    basically swapping from a v6 to a 4cyl and wanting to just use a 4cyl cluster to make the tach work without swapping dash harness

    from my research yes. I have a 4 cyl MX3 and compared the dash plugs to the V6 wiring diagram and it seems to match up.

    obviously you need the cable for the speedo and I cannot confirm the pins on the engine harness plugs are the same but the cluster appears PnP

      is the 4cyl a cable spedo? cuz the v6 is electronic

        yes its a cable unit, atleast in the 92 and i have not seen info otherwise for later years

            The clusters changed over for the 4 cylinders in 94 and up. Pre 94 they were cable driven speedos and after then, same time the dashes changed, they made them electronic. I imagine they would be the same because I can't see them paying the extra money to have 2 lines to make basically the same car and sensors are usually the same when it comes to electronics. The sensor can't tell if it is in a 4 cyl or 6cyl car.

              correct, the 94+ is electrical, I've had mine out a couple times.

                cool! thanks for the info! I could just run a dakota digital convertor for the tach signal but ide rather just pay 15 bucks from lkq for a cluster
