    whats needed for full time?

so is there a 4wd to awd or full time awd?

we live in the boonies and i dont want to take my forester out to beat on... how do i make my u.s. spec AWD

Uh, wut? Your US spec *what*, frinstance? If it's a stock awd pro or a bf gtx, you need to put a BPT trans in to get the viscous centerdiff. Of course it's awd right now as it sits, just with an open centerdiff. Locking it on snow is just fine. If it isn't one of those cars, whothehellknows what it needs...

its a 90 awd pro... what is the balance of the car power wise? 80 front/20 rear?

its def not even close to 50/50 distribution.. my front tires are bald as crap and my rears look barely used.. i dont beat on the car or anything, im just wondering if there is a setup that gives it a more balanced power

43 front/57 rear. Sounds like you have some front end issues that need attention. Time to do some research.

Hell, 2 different tire makes will wanna wear differently. Could be all kinds of things. Bad toe will wear across pretty evenly.

Now I ain't gonna name names, but rest assured there are at least a few threads started here that were started by folks what aren't the sharpest cheese on the cracker if ya knowwhatImean...

43/57 is only for the viscous center LSD as far as I know. Otherwise, it's an open (planetary gear) center diff, an open rear diff, and an open front diff. Essentially, still a 1-tire fire, but it can change from front to back if needed. Locking the center diff WILL make it 50/50, but don't do that unless you are on some very slippery conditions, or your center diff will die a quick, ignominious death.

As far as the uneven tire wear:

The front of your car has the majority ofl the weight on it.
The front of your car does all the steering.
The front of the car does the majority of the braking.

The front tires on ALL cars will wear fastar than the rears, the only exception being when one has RWD and needs a lot of coffee to go with the donuts....

the difference between 4WD and AWD is just semantics. Basically, AWD is 4WD, but categorized under 'full-time' Why? just because redneck retards get confused when you say a car is 4WD, but doesn't have any hubs for you to lock out. it's all about the marketing...

If you can find one. If you do you might as well put the bpt in with it ...

you'll still be wearing your front tires more, it's the nature of the beast. Just remember to rotate them, they'll wear much more evenly.

sort of on topic, but going in a different direction, what all is needed to be done to do an awd swap to a 323? i know the front subframe is different, as is shift linkage, trans, and presumably the rear subframe, but what else would need to be done in the conversion? just a thought i have been mulling over.
