    mx5 long nose crank swap

    hi guys
i have a B6T with a broken keyway.. im looking to do the longnose crank swap from an mx5.. whats the best way to go about it???

can i just put my b6t head on an mx5 block or do i need to swap the crank to my b6t??

Easier to swap the crank IMHO.

ok so is it just a straight swap of the crank with a new set of bearings and use the oil pump off the B6 engine??
do i need the get the crank balanced when its in the block??? do i use the B6T rods and pistons?

use your stock b6t pistons and rods. new bearings and no need to balance it, its balanced from the factory

IIRC: If it's the larger diameter crank, then yes. Not if it is the longer, revised crank.

the b6t and early miatas came with a short nose crank=broken keyway. to fix it get the revised longnose crankshaft, same diameter just longer so the key has more crank to sit in. IIRC the early proteges and Escort gt's came with a small nose crankshaft and it got revised to be the standard largenose crankshaft thats in most BP engines
