323 BG goodness, on the cheap!

My 92 323se! I thought I had more pictures on my phone, but apparently not. If it's warm enough on Saturday I'll give him a bath and take some pictures.
It does not have the goofy carbon fiber hood scoop installed, a buddy put a cf hood on his Suby and had it leftover. He tried really hard to sell it to me, but I think I can resist!
Car is almost bone stock, has a nice stainless fart can with some really scabby welding, that I kind of like the sound of. Can't stay there though, I'm a fan of subtle where exhaust is concerned. No power windows, although I noticed the harness is there, has the sunroof and upper spoiler though.

    To date; what's been done:
Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, battery (use a group 75 dual terminal, unless the group 75 with just top posts is available in your market), hot oil flush (what came out was shameful, take care of your cars!), pcv valve w/ grommet (why would you silicone this?!), rad cap, air filter, and 4 tanks of gas. I liked the 600km/tank of gas that I had until it snowed, now I'm spending too much time in that upper RPM range! Considering where I work, I'm rolling on the best for winter! 175/70r13 Hakkapelliita 5's! (why can't I say the brand?!) Studded goodness!
    What needs to be done soon;
No more fart can, brackets to raise front of driver's seat (I'm taller than most!), find the odd cavitation sort of sound that occurs for about 2 minutes of warm up and cure it, new lash adjusters (at least one is bleeding down, you can really hear it for about 30 seconds after sitting all day or overnight at first startup, upper strut mounts (wouldn't mind doing struts at the same time if doable)

Current project! Short Shifty Goodness or Project Comfortable!

Being taller than most, with my seat in a position where my arms are comfortable with the distance between me and my steering wheel I have to lean forward a bit to shift into 1,3 or 5. It started to irritate me, so I figured it's time to do something about it! I threw a honda shifter in it so a buddy could work some magic on my shifter on Monday, and I got it back today! Figure if the work to change where the knob is gets done, shortening throw at the same time would be easy enough too!

Should have taken before pictures of it, it originally had an s curve in it, that put the knob threads above the main body of it. Not sure what the point was of the S curve, and I'm reasonably sure it was original, didn't look like it had ever been heated or bent and I don't think it had ever been out of the car either.
May have to play with bend to find the sweet spot for me, easy enough though! With new shape and throw, should put the knob pretty close to the sweet spot for me!
Mr. Welder buddy cut out the top bend, added more bend to the bottom bend, used a piece from the top to shorten throw, and gave it a coat of anti rust paint (even lubed the bushings after putting them back! The guy rocks!)
More to come: Shifter installation pictures, adding mass to shift linkage for ease of use, and lifting front of seat for tall people!

          Short Shifty Goodness almost done!

Got the modified oe shifter in after work yesterday! Throw is about an inch from neutral, takes some more effort, but adding some mass either to the linkage or a weighted knob will help with that. Knob is finally where it needs to be for the seat to be all the way back, with the seat back in a comfortable position for me.

Modded shifter next to the temporary Honda shifter.

          Almost done!

And as promised, a better picture:

          ...and the fart can:

Next up is some spacers to lift the front of the drivers seat up!
