    BF/BG suspension options. need opinions!

im not quite sure where to put this since my car is a mut. lol

so now that i have some drivetrain issues worked out i want to work on my suspension next. i have BG knuckles and struts up front. the rear is still stock BF. both front and rear are stock blown struts on ebay lowering springs. i plan to finish converting the rear to BG suspension before i do anything.

ive been researching for a nice strut/spring combo for the BG cars since i cant have a complete shock/coilover setup like ksport(4 bolt top hats wont bolt in my car). ive seen tokico on ebay, but i plan to keep my ride height, which is decently low. i havent seen any decent springs yet.

anyone with a BF or BG chime in. i want to know how you like your setups and if your slammed or moderately low.

couldn't you redrill your strut towers to accept BG top hats?
My setup is GAB 8 way adjustable struts and Dropzone lowering springs.
not very low even though dropzone is supposedly the lowest spring available

I thought about that, but the strut towers look wider on a bg for 4 bolts. The lower perches of the bg strut almost hit the inside of the wheel wells on my car.

Have you tried to see if the top mounts will interchange? I tried this once but don't remember if it worked or not. I do know if you want to swap the rear suspension to BG, you will need from the BG for sure:
Rear shocks, Rear trailing arms, Lateral links/arms, spindles, hubs, brakes, AND the entire rear subframe/crossmember thing. Without it, your lateral links will be WAY to wide. It looks like it *should* (might) bolt up to the BF floorpan without any issues.

The top hats interchange if you drill them out. I think cusco bf camber plates will fit bg struts if you have the nut with the right thread size.

The bg rear subframe will NOT bolt up to the bf. I was going to try to redrill the subframe but Ive been busy with other crap. I tried bg hubs, struts and trailing arms with bf subframe and control arms but the trailing arm is too short and puts the wheel too far forward.

im using lantis hubs and stuff in the back of my bf
you need bf top hat, lantis hub ,spring ,shock and trailing arm

but haven't had the wheel on the back yet to see what it sits like
i think bg and lantis trailing arms are different lengths from each other so you might have to find some lantis ones

Escort GT trailing arms will fit the BF...just need to sleeve the front bushing.

I forgot that the holes are only about 1/4-1/2 in off so you could probly make it fit with alittle drilling.

That's all I did for the front. Kept bf control arms by just drilling the holes out some for the BG knuckles. Apparently the rear is much harder. Ill have to do some experimenting.

I've been trying to 5-stud the back of my FWD BF with Lantis parts, which are the same as BG parts. Its not easy, everything bolts up but when using a lantis strut with a BF top hat the strut is WAY too long. Even with lowered springs you'd still be nearly bottoming out the strut all the time. Needs more investigation, I'm considering custom coilovers, maybe BF 4WD bodies with lantis bottoms.
