I will make a long story short. I have been through 4 turbos since I have owned my 323. The last and current turbo was a freshly rebuilt hybrid that has less than 1000 miles on it. I drive my car very easy but I still press on it once in a while but its not an everyday thing. The turbo is a vj14 back with a vj11 front and it is on wastegate regulated pressure no bleed or controller. With that said. I am trying to find another turbo that will fit the stock manifold. Reason why I want to stay stock manifold is because I lost my job in january and I am going back to school. I love my 323 and I really dont want to get rid of her but I can't put any more money into this car if the turbo is going to keep blowing on me. I know that I can get a thunderbird t3 but they are getting hard to find. Can anyone give me any other options on what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated

Damn dude, I have yet to blow a turbo in 12 years of running them and running them hard. That said, I also have yet to deal with one that's been rebuilt.
Do you run synthetic, and let the thing cool off some before shutting it down, and letting things warm up before hooning on it?'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

I'd never use anything but synthetic on a turbo car. The centersection can easily get too hot for the normal stuff. Like BMFR suggested do an autopsy and look for black nasty buildup.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

I dont think that oil was the issue. I dont run a full synthetic because it liquifies easy. I would rather run a synthetic blend. Its really weird because the turbo has no shaft play.
Are you sure that this turbo won't work?
The mounting gasket looks the same but I can't find a reference that it is the same

no there really isnt anything else that will bolt right on, possibly if you slot it like the guys using the vj11's on the bp26 mani's but yould have to get a gasket and see...92 protege lx-
