    My sad ´89 GT-Ae

    The ad pictures:

It looked good and i went to see it. For 2500usd it was GT-Ae (110kw) and a FWD turbo (103kw) parts car. The head was changed with FWD one and intake manifold was downgraded. I have the JDM/GT-Ae intake manifold on the FWD car atm. It looked good, a little dented but thats ok, and since the owner had heard of me and my other projects decided to give both cars to me for 1650usd if i promise to bring life back to this car. I took the GT-Ae to my garage and did some more investigating (the FWD car is under snow and ill get it soon also).

    This is what came out:

The owner bought it to restore but had no place or funds, he told me also that it doesnt look so good underneath all the panels, so the previous owner warned me and i was aware of it. Still i hoped it to be in better shape tho.

Anyhow i will bring this car back to its glory.

But the stud winter tires are good!
        Good luck, man!
And hat about fenders etc - are you planning buy new ones (Klokkerholm, others) or using self-made elements from sheet metal?

The tires are rethreaded but with 2mm longer studs that are glued with special loctite glue.
I ordered klokkerholm/nor fenders but all internal parts are oem and the parts that werent available will be custom made from sheet metal.

Be sure and check out Jasoncsprotege's (that right?) thread on the 4wd pro he rescued. It'll give you hope and inspiration and all that. Me I hate bodywork but with any luck you're way better at that sort of thing than I am...

'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

I gotta say, you'd probably be into less work swapping that driveline into a solid FWD car. Not that an awd swap seems to be any easy feat.

I really don't think that's worth your time to save. Awsome little parts car though. A real GTAe! Sweet!

My car has 4mm thick metal plates inside the sideskirt panel/door sill from front to back. Is that normal on a BF?

                              So GTX doesnt have them?
These steel plates make bodywork pita to be honest :D

Ill soon give you updates on the bodywork. FYI the klokkerholm side sills are a lot of work. only place they fit are the mounting points but the shape is not same. Ill do picures of that too.
