    Gambit's 93dx build

Ive decided to start a build thread to mainly get some ideas that I havent seen done and to get some imput and criticism for my own good. As some of you know I recently acquired a gtr motor unexpectedly. Only problem was it didn't have a turbo.

Here are my thoughts for the build. I have a vj20 so I am going to use it. From what I have been reading. The gtr was built for low end and mid range torqueyness. So my thoughts are to use the gtr exhaust manifold mate the vj20 hotside to it and use a vf10 coldside. I guess im looking to spool quick at low rpm's and still flow a descent amount of psi at mid to high rpm's. So I quess well go from here and see what peoples thoughts are.

And here is some pics of stuff for the build.

I think you'd be best off with an adapter plate and something like a Super 60 or a 2860- that way it would spool well before 3000 rpm without choking itself out at high revs like the tiny IHIs.

nice dude! bout time you got a thread going lol, now we can all pool info haha.

Ya me and "gambit" were talking about the vj20 with the vf10 coldside. We know it'll work and he can probably make 230whp with that setup...but yea it is very small lol especially to install it on said gtr motor

But I say try the vj20/10 turbo combo, see what you think. You can sell it all off for around the same price you purchased it at too lol as long as you don't blow it up.

I agree with atomic for "in near future" plans haha. Moar POWA

Vj20... I think you'll be disappointed. Unless you really open up intake and exhaust (including getting rid of that downpipe), you'll run out of breath at 12 psi, and 12psi on vj20 is not the same as 12psi on vj23. Yes there will be almost no lag, but what's the point if there'n not much power either... If you have a shot at buying the right turbo, do it. C'mon man, you went for a spin in my car and you wanna put a tiny turbo in yours?
Yah more dough. More ECU, more tuning, more etc. Oh well.

Yeah. I will upgrade In the near future. But I want to get it up and running for now atleast. Its killing me lol. The vj20 is getting an adapter plate made this next week and also an exhaust flange. 3 inch from the turbo to tail should be plenty big. Plus I might as well pipe it now cause I'm sure a holset needs atleast that.

I hope I can have this thing ready to go by the time the leavenworth meet. Its in june.

You can also send the vf-10 coldside out to get a compressor wheel upgrade done to it that would be capable of 280-ish whp.

I think your in the right path... go the route you have planned and see how you like it. You can easily get 200whp out of that vj20. It will be fun splly if you never had a turbo car before lol.
then once you do upgrade you will shaat in your pants hehe

Will that haltech work out if I used it for a bigger turbo? To be honest I scaared of tuning it. And the vj20 will just bolt up and go sorta.

When are you gonna come over and see it?? Maybe when I get the ecu and intercooler pipes you can come over and help me get it running. Man this waiting and collecting parts is killing me haha.
