EGI Relay and Ignition Timing Questions

Finally figured out my ignition problem. I originally thought the ignitor or pickup was bad, replaced those with parts from a used dizzy I had. Still didnt work, even bought a new Accell yellow coil, with no luck. Looked in my FSM and found the EGI relay, with the key on, I tapped it with a screwdriver and Viola' ! So now I cannot find one at the parts stores to buy. Any other cars have the same relay I can get or do I have to go to the junk yard and find one. Anyone have a wiring scheme of that plug so I can wire in a universal replacement? Oh yeah I did a search for this, just so you dont think I am a complete newb.

Second, I am using the spare dizzy (came with the car) the timing mark was way off when I used the timing light. Like it looks like its at 17-18 degrees! When turned down to 12, it will barely run, so something is wrong. Could the distributor be slightly different or from a different car and make it look like that?

    Thanks alot!

is it possible that you put the black piece on inside the distributor cap the wrong way? It should be able to go on three different ways. That will mess up timing.

When u set the timing belt with cam gears at the correct marks the little mark on the pulley was at the "T" mark, correct? And now that your t belt has spun a few rotations just check to see marks all line up still.

And IIRC a regular Bosch universal relay should be able to replace yours. I just don't have my FSM so I can't tell u which wire is what.

Timing belt is correct. I was able to time the ignition with the old distributor to 12 degrees no problem. I am going to put it back on next week.
