    4 door?

    Totalled the gtx.....

By the grace of God were fine.

By the looks of it when I was running around before they towed it off it looks somehow like the engine was under all the wreckage and fine. So my question now is are there any 4 door cars that this engine and trans or just engine will accept somewhat easily??

Considering we have a kid on the way I was planning on getting a 4 door and since that gtx is done I figured I might try and transplant. I also have a bpt that I pulled outta a gtx with the wiring harness thats already spiced in for the bpt's throttle body.

    Thanks

    James

First im glad you're ok man, your wife too. I had seen the news video posted on the Yahoo site and it looked pretty bad.

second I think it was pretty badass seeing you running around all bloodied up for your tv interview

third, thanks for pointing out the awesomeness of the gtx on tv

that engine will swap into a bf 4 door sedan, not the transmission though. If you already have a bpt sitting around then you can just get a BG 90-94 Protege and thats a drop in swap

That's horrible man. At least you are ok. I hope your wife and child make it ok as well.

Makes me feel a little bit safer about the strength of my BF. lol

Glad to hear you are all ok. I had the same thing happen to me when I was 16 on my bicycle. It's a pretty helpless feeling when someone suddenly turns left in front of you. Bottom line is that it's good to see a 23 year old car can still give up it's life to save its occupants.

I was really interested to read about the racing seats in your car. I think that the positioning of the driver & passenger in this case should be emphasized. I see way too many people out there hugging their steering wheels so they can "see" better. It's bad when cars are equipped with airbags, and really bad in crashes like this.

I'm very glad that you and your family are ok.

If you're going to get a Protege, then shoot for an AWD model, which are rare, or go for an LX Protege. Buy the nicest example you can find.

          Good Luck

Wow speechless....I am so glad that you and your wife are fine. I am hoping all is well with the baby too.

BF Sedan (or wagon) is your choice if you want a 4 door that will be reminiscent of your GTX.

Thanks you guys. My wife just read it all and said she felt loved.... Anyways if that engine and tranny is still good the only direct swap would be a awd protege? What about wiring harness and everything for that? Otherwise I will have to mat the b6t to a fwd tranny like it was originally on the capri xr2?

I guess I would like to know what would be the easiest car to swap it into including wiring, I would of course like to keep it awd but I understand if I have to sacrifice that.

Trailrider I cant believe you saw it on yahoo way out in ct... how did that work out?

This is before I have done research which I am starting to do right now and I apologize but idealy I would like another awd wagon or hatchback that is awd, if it is fwd that is fine but a 4 door hatch would be super rad. Would these cars be plug and play basically?

The bpt I have I dont know its condition so I would probably rather just stick with a bf that I can put that b6t into, I will save the bpt for something that can accept the awd tranny that is on it and something light weight further down the road.

                        That's it...

The one in that ad is a BF 4-door, and it would take your engine and harness bolted to its FWD transmission.

Did your GTX have a BPT swap (1.8l turbo), or the stock 1.6l B6T? You mentioned above that you had a spare BPT, and that would go into the BG chassis (1990-1992 4WD/1990-1995 FWD). Some areas emission laws will not allow you to transplant an older engine into a newer chassis.

My gtx had a b6t. I do have a bpt though i dont know the condition of it so thats something I will worry about further down the road. I think its going to be pretty hard to find a awd bg chassis out here. considering that ad i posted was the only bf, besides two 323 I found. I am talking to a guy in california about his gtx shell that he might sell me. I might just go with another gtx for now, cause only at 11 lbs on a stock turbo that thing ripped good.

what about the ecu with another vehicle, could i use my gtx ecu or would i have to stick with whatever ecu was in the bf already? only reason is that its chipped for 18 lbs so I would like to run it if I could

any one know of a gtx close to co for sale?

yea but your so far away. doin a little research they do look sick.... I would love to get my bpt running in one of them. I have a question though this bpt i got from a gtx with the tranny. I heard that it must be a jdm spec or something rather tranny since it is bolted up to the bpt and came out of a gtx.... any ideas on what tranny I have? Would this tranny bolt up to the b6t? or no cause its a 1.6 instead of a 1.8
