    hard to start

Saturday on the way back from a corn roast my Pro died.

Lost all power, lights and limped it to an exit close to home.
I put in another battery and was able to drive it home.

Changed the alternator on Sunday. Havent had the chance to get the old one tested yet.

Before it died it was hesitating when I turned the key like it was 20 below. Its still doing that and I really dont want to drive this thing too far without getting it fixed.

Any suggestions where to look next would be appreciated

    what oil are you using?
Sounds more like an ignition problem rather than the battery and alt.
Did you make sure the ground from the starter wire to the distributor is good?
Try checking the spark plugs and make sure the ground is good.

sounds like a bad ground to the engine....add some groundwires and you'll be magically surprised!

        Using Castrol Synth.

Still not starting like it should, but it hasnt quit on me ...yet.
all the ground wires/connections appear to be good, but I think I will use this as an opportunity to upgrade the ground wires.
        Will probably go with 8awg

could be ur injectors are clogged...that happened to me to...it sort of stutters, tries to die...loss of power etc...just get some stp injector cleaner, try that

Could be a weak starter too. Tough to tell from this far away.

yea. clean the injectors, that could be the prob. If it was the starter, the car wouldn't sputter and almost die and then start.
outlaw makes some good fuel injector cleaner. Or STP

and to increase the effect, put the cleaner in the tank when you're nearly on empty, then only fill up about 1/4 - 1/2 tank so you dont weaken the concentrate, and run around on the highway for about 20 minutes.

Some of those companies that make fuel injector cleaners that write on the bottle that it's "super concentrated" and you should fill up the tank when you add it in-only want you to buy a second bottle as the first one didnt do the job thoroughly.

Check the grounds charge the battery and let it run in your drive way see if it dies.
