AWD rear hubs ? in my MX

Does anyone know if the rear hubs differ between the GTX and Protege?

I am running into a problem with my Protege rear end in my MX. The issue is where the strut mount on the rear hubs. It is taller than the MX hubs were and its giving me very limited travel in the struts. It was giving me a crazy ride height but i have gotten GC's to lower it down. I have dropped the GC's as low as they will go and i still have a 3 finger gap in the rear, and i am afraid that i will bottom out my Koni's.

I was wondering if the 323's Hubs were different in strut mounting point height, as my only options are to really increase the height of the upper mount to get some extra travel out of them.

    Any thoughts?

What flavor GTX, the bg hubs in the protege are indeed diffferent from the bf gtx stuff.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

swap the rear end out for a miata unit. I have one if you need measurements. it runs double wishbone and a shock style bottom strut mount.

        hmm,

So I have the Protege rear end mounted into my MX-3, would you know if the GTX hubs would be swap-able to the Pro rear end by chance?

would you know what the differences between them are.

What I am looking for is something that will mount up to the Pro rear end and have a lower mounting point for the strut. Are the axle splines the same?

Thanks for the help and hopefully this makes sense.

I thought the Miata did not run a McPherson struts in the rear?

I thought about this before I did my swap and was a little more than I had cared to get into at the time. but if it runs a McPherson strut in the rear that would be easy.

currently i am running a 2way LSD, Koni Reds, custom rate GC's, H&R preloads, and Cusco camber plates. i would have to figure something else out if i swapped to a Miata rear end.

that LSD will swap right into a 90-93 Miata housing. They do not run a two bolt knuckle rear end. It is a strut but its a normal shock type bottom with a bushing and a thru bolt.

yah I would love to go to a dual A arm setup, but not really wanting to have to redo the entire rear end mounting rite now.

side question, I knew the LSD would swap in, cause that's the car that it was originally intended for, but is the snout on the Miata rear end longer than that on the Pro rear end? I am going to go away from the Pro 3 piece drive line to the GTX 2 piece and its about 3" short.

GTX hubs and AWD protege hubs (BG chassis) are the same. GTR hubs are different, because they run different brakes. afaik the wheel bearings and spline counts are all the same tho

Nope, my GTX hubs wouldn't bolt up to the bg chassis. Lower trut mount bolt holes are too far apart and the tabs are too close together.

I guess I am going to have to raise my upper strut mount perch. Really the only solution I can think of to do it correctly. unless i whipped up some one off rear hubs or modded them but i don't feel safe welding cast.

i think i will add 2.5" of stock to the top of the perches, and hopefully i wont throw the camber off to much, good thing i have the camber plates.

I could try sliding the mounting bracket up the strut tube a couple of inches, but its already fairly close to the axle. hmm

What do you guys think? suggestions
