    any Ideas

Im looking convert my 4 lug hub to 5 lug, and I would like to put disc brakes on the rear of my 1998 Protege. Anyone know what hub would be interchangable? and any quick solutions to the brakes?

Try hubs from a P5 or other facelift third gen. I think they all had 5 lugs. You might have to use the third gen brakes as well.

i little further off, but maybe rx7 parts? EDIT: just remembered its rwd, probably won't help all that much...

not saying its bad, and i know this part isn't helpful, just curious why the 5 lug?

one more thought, alot of the 2.0L cars (626s Milenia's and the sort) were 5 lug and FF, anyone know if any of them change over?

honestly a lot of people here haven't tried that, you'll find a lot of stuff for the 2nd gens is "you have to try it yourself"

i'm not saying everything is this way, i've learned a lot about engine swaps, turbo's, ecu's and such, but suspension crossover parts really aren't played with a ton

couple other things you can try (dunno if they are 5 lug or not though) ford escorts and kia sephias. they share the same engines and brake components, i wouldn't put it past suspension components

Are Escorts and Sephias the same chassis?

no idea, i think the 96 ish sephias are wider hub to hub cause i think the axles are about 1/4 in longer on each (iirc, i could have it backwards with the protege, i wrote it down on irishkev's worklog)

i think the egt is a bg chassis (just woke up, might have this one way off), but i have no idea about the slightly newer ones, i had a friends 02 escort up in the air at school and a lot of the parts looked close to the same, figured if you had a ton of time at a jy you could just compare parts

Yes, the 91 and up escorts are BG chassis, and suspensions are interchangeable with minor differences. Even the newer ones including the zx2. The sephia is not. I believe just the motor/trans (axles can only be used with Kia trans or 28 spline diff) can be used from the sephias with BPs. All are 4 lug unfortunately.

Ya I do believe the BG parts are interchangeable, down to the complete rear subframe swap IIRC.

If you want 5 lug, and BG parts are the same, then you can do what the BGs guys do to run 5 lug.

89-91 rear disk spindles from Probe/626/MX6

93-97 front spindles from Probe/626/MX6 (I think you should be able to run the 89-91 fronts as well, but can't remember)

you will need spindles, bearings, rotors, calipers, pads, and rear ebrake cables possibly...

i'm not against the 5lug swap. like i'd like to do one someday myself
but why do you want to do it?
is there a certain rim or something you been eyeing.

i think if i eventually do it. i might just make it all custom.
Full big brake it. bigger calipers, rotors and all.

Are the BJ brakes any bigger than the BH's front and rear? If they are, that could be a reason.
