    b6t automatic????

Random off the wall question will a b6t block bolt up to the stock automatic transmission from a b6 sohc and if so would it just fry the tranny. The only reason why I ask is I'm rockin the 323 sedan and find myself hungery for more power (goddamn Honda's & Acura's keep kicking the living crap out of me). I rolled in a turbo auto volvo and it was pretty damn quick and I know I can swap from auto to manual but from what I've heard it's really hard and expensive I'm just looking for more options

The auto gear boxes in question weren't designed to handle much more than the 80-ish HPs fed to it. You *can* get it to work, but you're going to be hooning in a matter of seconds after leaving the driveway.

Ask yourself if you feel like swapping transmissions in the near future, and if you have enough money saved up to source the right tranny (and axles, and brakes, and loaner cars, and beer, and bribing friends to help you, and shipping, and deliveries, and waiting, and the questions you'll be asking, and the parts you'll be searching for, and the NOT driving your car, and stuff), or ask yourself if you think you can get it to work and see how long you can keep it on the road.

    Also:

1.) You're racing in your car against, I'm assuming 1990's / 2000's-era, Hondas and Acuras and you're just so... frustrated by your losing streak? Unpossible! (compare their torque output against the torque specs called out for your lugnuts)

2.) Turbo, Automatic Volvos are quicGODDAMNITYOUOWEMEANEWKEYBOARD.

Good point lol. Well I guess I could just do a swap for a good BP auto cuz this poor little engine & tranny has seen much better days. Actually I've got stomped on by a 87 integra and 86 preludes more then the 90's and 2000's. The people in my town are obsessed with older school imports and I just relized that I posted this in the wrong section

It wouldn't really be practical right? A 4 speed auto wouldn't really give the kinda performance you'd expect from a turbo when a five speed manual is available. But then again the Volvo 740 turbo sedan I got to ride in was a 4 speed auto and it was quick as hell. I'll keep doing some research on it to see if its worth while or not. I'll keep posted with any findings I get

Here's what I've got so far which makes me think it can be done.

                  Volvo AW70/71 ratio-|Mazda G4A-EL ratio--|Mazda G4A-HL ratio
                  4speed Auto|---------|4Speed Auto|--------|4Speed Auto|

                  Ovd | 0.69 |--------|Ovd | 0.70 | 3.73------|Ovd | 0.70 |

                  1360-1510 kg--------------------936 kg
                  ------------------------------------------------------------------------
                  Engine B230FT--------Engine B6T------------Engine BP-ZE

                  Engine output 160HP---engine output 132HP------Engine output 127HP

I guess it's really all down to how the internals of the transmissions are
But really who's so lazy that they don't wanna shift themselves

                    i ran a turbo bp (t3) on a bf b6 sohc 5 speed tranz in my 88 fwd 323..

i say run it,add a tranz cooler, do some more research and if it blows upgrade.

what controls the shifts in your car anyway, vacuum or a computer???

I'm guessing it vacuum cuz it's the stock B6 SOHC 8v transmission. I'm pretty sure that the BP auto trans from a ford escort gt would hold up fine to the B6T but there's really no point to having an auto with a turbo when a manual is available unless your a lazy driver and just want more pep then real performance

I don't know, I change my mind so often that it's not even funny. The original reason I asked the question was because I'm lazy and didn't wanna swap transmissions but since my transmission can't handle more then 80 some-odd horse I'll still have to swap it. I guess it just comes down to what I can find in the junkyard when it comes time to swap.
