    Adjustable shock absorbers? pray tell

    Hey all,
Im new to the BF 323 scene, (bought one about 3 days ago) and want to know a bit more about the ASA. Was it noticeable when in sports, normal, cruise?? When i bought the car i saw the little car with said modes to the right of the steering wheel. i pressed sports and noticed the little suspension lights come on and i was amazed (yet nothing happened). Ive scanned through the repair manual and noticed there were supposed to be actuators or something on the tower in the engine bay, but mine doesnt have it anymore..just wondering if they're getting hard to find or even worth while putting them back on.

    thanks for the help guys
    Doug

Doubt you will ever find new acuaters, and new OEM adjustable shocks are long gone

Unobtanium. Wish I had an example to see if it can be rebuilt.

My '88 GT has them, and they ALL work AND the previous owner included 2 more actuators.

Only problem I have is my right rear is blown. Unobtainium is right. I've searched long and hard(first of all!), all that comes up are aftermarket, non-adjustable replacements. Mazda has ONE new old stock ASA strut, GT-X left rear, still in the parts system.

I think Tokico made them... I haven't looked at mine close enough even if it's in my basement. When I get a chance I'll check for sure and try to get it rebuilt.

With apparently only 880ish GTs ever sold in the US, it's hard to find any... anywhere.

And yes, there's a big difference between the modes, well, Sport and Normal anyway. Cruise lowers dampening on the rear only. I should take a video of mine, jouncing the front in both modes. Sport mode is surprisingly stiff and Normal is like driving on blown struts... which is nice on bumpy roads. LOL When I bounce the front in Normal, it'll float up and down a bit, but in sport it doesn't bounce at all.

I will have a whole set of spare actuators soon if the OP wants them still. I'm taking the ASAs out for GR2s with coilover sleeves. I have the rubber caps for them too. Just PM me for more info.

I believe the number of GTs sold in 1988 was 703? My '88 has the adj. struts long gone..novel idea at best and thank you to the 1980s for some cool stuff!
