    Wilyb's FE3

    Ok... new thread for the FE3...

    Bought the FE3 engine from Sunrise JDM in Montreal on sept 1,2011...

    Took it home, inspected it and found a couple of things such as busted clutch slave cylinder and idle sensor, but other than that the engine looks pretty good

      Oil pressure sending unit on right , knock sensor on left... next pic is wiring for the 4 wire O2 sensor which had to have been connected to the front pipe...

        automatic F2/F2T throttle body will be a direct replacement.
        the left is a knock sensor- right is the oil pressure sensor.
        when you boost the FE3- you can move the oil pressure sensor up & to the left by removing the allen key plug as seen in the picture.
        This will allow you to use a F2T oil line around the block feeding to the front. be sure you grab all of the metal oil line when your in the JY. as you can use the line fittings to build your own.

        the slave cylinder should be replaceable with a F2 unit.

        ALSO!!! grab a F2T oil cooler while your at the JY. you must grab the threaded rod into the block as well. the OEM FE3 one is shorter.

          so has ryan or anyone found a fsm for this motor yet, ive honestly never tried to find one yet...lol...

            Will I get better flow from the F2T mani?

            Marc Eric already has an oil cooler on his FE3 as his came out of an AWD automatic.. (lucky stiff)

            I'll look into finding a MX6 GT from a scrapyard or something...

            Met with a friend who owns and works on MX6's, he lent me an axle, it's a 28 spline. I assume it fits an H type gearbox so it's no good to me... Tried to fit it in but wouldn't go... it's a 28 spline if I counted correctly.

            I'll install the G type trans for now, but I will need to upgrade the trans once I boost.

            I read that the H type trans is the toughest one Mazda built, but My friend Rob told me that it can handle horsepower ok but can't take the torque. He said that if I install a large turbo it would be better as the smaller ones put too much stress on the trans since it spools too quickly.

            Opened the cover: FE3N intake and exhaust cams...I think the cam of choice if boosting would be the FE5A for higher lift and duration... correct?

              Yes I think he may have one...warming up the pucker on my lips because I think I'll be doin' some ass kissin' in order to get one...someone on MX6.com or a Miata site should have one in soft copy...

                          is that a weld along the center line of that head???

                          the FE3N cams are good. for now you'll be plenty alright. in terms of the transmission. you'll be okay with boost on the G type for a good while so long as you don't trash your transmission through crappy clutching/shifting.

                            I looked at that mark quick and didn't pay any more attention to it... to me it looked like someone die grinded a mold seam. It looked like in the center there was a mold injection point there.
