    gtx apprasial

Was going to put this in "what did you do" but thought it might aid someone else in a search later-shrug.
Got the gtx appraised last sat. buddy came up with a #3 car and the sum of $6800 I said` ya what ever`,though I have way more into it then that.
I get a smoking deal on insurance of aprox.$245 for 7months a yr. on the road(wife works for an large insurance company),but I rarely drive it and have no collision cause of its age.
This year for some reason I felt real worried that if I got more than clipped,I obviously would be up the creek.
Not sure if I can insure it as a `classic`cause in print they tend to be unmoddified,my buddies 1930ish chev pickup is being classified as a classic but hell its closer to ratrod (a nice ratrod).
Anyhow I`ll let you guys know what comes up with this shortly after I send pics.& info off to the insurance weasels. tgif.

Thanks for the info, I have been looking into that as well. Mine has been off the road for about 12 years now, and that was always part of my concern. When my car gets back to the streets, it will be for the same type of use as you. I think you can also get "Historic" plates once the car reaches 30 years old, and that reduces the license costs as well. Sad to think that is only another 6 years away.

My insurance came back with <$550 for the year no limitations except no work & less than about 15k kms a yr. with the $6800 apprasial.Only worry with them is if the car gets written off some claims weasel will say "oh we can replace that for $2000".The cheaper "silver plan"insurance with lots of limitations are pay up no questions asked, basically. My bride says "go for the less limitation one, drive the sucker when you want."
        She's a peach.

What you're looking for is called 'agreed value' insurance - you set the replacement value and the coverage requirements. It's generally better to go with a collector/kit car specialist, such as Hagerty, Grundy, or the like, as they offer some great terms, including letting you use yourself as an approved repair facility.
