    GTX into 93 mx3 GS

ok so im finding a lot of info as usual but the majority seems to be ppl who bp swapped their RS..

so far i know i need a RS cluster cuz of the electric speedo in the gs..

now can i use my egt speedo cable/gear with the rs cluster?

how about the throttle cable? obviously the gs is a lil long do i need a rs cable or can i use my egt one?

im going to use my power steering lines from my egt as well and retain the gs rack..

    anything else im missing?

which radiator hoses do i use for the BP with the gs radiator and fan setup? or do i have to make my own?

Ive also been told i can use the EGT swaybars so i can retain my delrin endlinks josh made.. any modifications needed for this?

and shift linkage... at first glance the gs linkage looks the same as the EGT linkage is it? or is there a diff? i have both just not next to eachother to compare at the moment...

ive also heard there are diff. in the wiring at the dash and what not.. Im using ms1 and have my bp harness for that ready to go so i shouldnt have any issues with the dash harness correct?

any and all info is as usual greatly appreciated..

RS cluster yes, EGT should hook up to it if it's the same style as Mazda uses...then plug it into your trans.

Throttle cable you will have to check to see if you can make a proper bracket for it, if not you can use an RS or Protege/323/EGT cable

Power steering lines should be fine ya

Radiator...I can see an RS radiator being the best option as the inlet/oulets are setup for the 4 cyl B series engines.

Shiftlinkage I've been told is different, but we just used an F-series linkage on a BP/Geries swap without issues...so I say give it a try.

    Wiring not sure about sorry

i thinkn the radiator for the RS and GS are the same no? just the hoses are diff again im just basing this off what i think mazda would do.. not to worried about it as its easy to rig up hoses..

I was planning on using my EGT throttle cable but didnt know if i needed the RS one for some reason i was gona buy one from a part out on here so that saves me 20bucks..

OK I just did a bp swap in a 94 mx3. I do know in your case u will need to get a different radiator. And for hose i just went to autozone and they let me look at all of them. I just picked out the ones i wanted. And yes u will need a rs cluster. everything from the escort should work fine the cable and the little gear. And as for the shift linkage i used the mx3 the only thing is that the lower back tranny mount the bolt was just a little to long so i had to grind it down so the linkage would bolt up right.

mazdaguy why do i need to use a diff radiator??

and i was told that the v6 crossmember is diff so i need to pull that and put in my EGT one or the mounts wont line up

good to hear that i can use my speedo gear/cable hopefully i can use my egt throttle cable to..

this is becoming quite the lil bp to mx3 gs info thread im going to keep posting everything i run into so all the info ends up in one spot for the next guy.. since it seems im one of the few who swapped into a gs instead of a rs

            I forgot to note......................

don't slam the mx3 too much or you'll scrap in front everywhere you go.

the RS radiator you will need. different inlet/outlets. they are flipped VS a 4 cyl.

You'll need egt crossmember, engine harness, throttle cable, tach cable, rs cluster (i have 1), bp axles, trans, motor mounts, rs rad (theyre current). I think thats it

LCA length then would be the culprit there then, not the crossmember

no, the GS crossmember (front to back one with the mounts on it) is not the same as the RS or any of the 4 cylinder ones, you need it to swap in a 4cylinder, or plan on drilling holes.

for reference, donnie did this swap along time ago and covered the details here http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/show...16416-GTX-swap *cough cough* stickied in the drivetrain forum *cough*

I did the reverse in the 323, when you sit them side by side there is some clear differences.
