    Slow Starts

I wasnt exactly sure where to post this, so I decided to do it here.

I have a 2000 Pro LX. Last night, I was having some troubles starting so I was finally able to start the car and took it to Advance Auto Parts. They tested the battery and they said it was dead and I bought a new one. When I put the new one in and started the car, it started right up, no problems at all.

Fast forward to this morning. I go outside to start my car to go to school. Car doesnt start. The starter motor goes, but right when it is supposed to kick over to the engine, it doesnt. I let it sit for a couple minutes and try again. It starts, although slowly. You can tell its struggling, like it is about to stall. I let it run for a few and go to class. When I park my car, I start the car twice just to test it. It works both times (slowly). Go to drive home after class and it starts up slowly again. Drive home. Get home and test the startup again. Doesnt start.

I have no idea what to make of this problem. Any help will be appreciated.

Also, the engine idle speed is a lot lower then it usually was before the battery.

I dunno, to me it sounds like your starter is going bad or your alternator is not charging your battery. I'd take it to a mechanic and let them see what's wrong with it.

It may have a brand new battery but if your alternator isn't charging it, or if your starter is dying, that may be why. My guess is as good as yours though. Take it to a trusted mechanic.

could be the alt, get it tested at advanced, sounds like it could also be a grounding problem.
i have the same problem with my 2k every now and then, but then it just goes away......im going to clean all my grounds this spring or sompin.
According to my Anger Management Counselor, after 26 weeks of anger management class, I should be an expert when it comes to Anger Management...tell that to the guy who threw a starburst at my car in rush hour traffic...haha

if the starter is cranking normally, check plugs to make sure thay are not fouled.

could another solution to this problem be the o2 sensor?

it could be the 02 that makes it idle weid, but not make it start slow.

Do you mean it's turning over slow, or that it takes a long time to catch? If it's turning over slow I'd suspect the alternator first, especially if it started okay for a while on a new battery.
If it's cranking okay but starting hard, that's a whole other mess of possible problems.

the diagnostics pull said that it was the temp sensor and the sensor was telling the chip that it was -40 degrees and it was sending way too much gas and flooding the engine causing the slow starts. sound feesable (i know i butchered that spelling)
