    awd starter?

    So my starter died on me the other day. Does anyone know if the fwd starters are inerchangable withe awd? I might even just rebuild it if i can find the parts and its no too much of a hassle to do. Are theses starters a pain to change?

    I'm near-certain they are interchangeable.

      So i was gonna change the starter but couldn't get the diff lock motor out! What am I missing? Theres only 3 bolts holding it right? Anyways it ended up not being the starter. Bad ground was the culprit to my intermittent no start.

        I have an EGT starter in my 4wd pro right now. can't help ya with the diff lock motor, I have a GTX center LSD trans in mine.

          Difflock motor. There's a bolt on the topside, kinda by itself, that you either have to remove or just put a half-turn on - I can't remember which so do the halfturn and see does it come off and if not then take it on out.

              Is it that bolt to the left of that 2 wire plug in the 2nd pic?

                Yah I'm prettsure that's the one. Diagnosing and fixing that problem in my case was painful so I've done my best to forget the gory details.

                    You mean diagnosing you starter or 4wd? 4wd lock doesn't work either. What end up being the problem on yours? THe diff lock motor bad?

                      Centerdiff stopped locking or unlocking. Went through dash box wires fuses etc then took difflock motor all the way apart. Cuz the magnets, which are just glued to the inside of the case, fell off. They fell the F@#% off. They looked like they were stuck in there with a lil Elmers. I reinstalled them with Devcon.....When we swapped bpt in I kept that difflock motor. Still have it come to think of it.
